I can imagine a dumb person seeing that and turning the cup over to look at the bottom only to end up with a crotch full of hot coffee

[–]clsbabe 206ポイント207ポイント  (57子コメント)

And then winning the lawsuit because the warning was defaced and they couldn't read it.

Depends on how hot. 3rd degree burn hot?

Oh yay, another case where we pretend people could NEVER want coffee that was hot enough to still be hot coffee by the time they got in to work.

"but the hot coffee was hot", no shit. Don't spill it on yourself and problem fucking solved. But no, she's literally too incompetent to hold a cup, so now providing hot coffee that's still hot by the time I get to where I want to drink it is worth having to pay out.

I love cold coffee at work because people are too fucking stupid to hold a cup.

Oh, it was hot enough it could burn? NO SHIT, IT'S HOT COFEE. Yes, it was hotter than necessary, but that's okay when you want to provide it as hot as necessary once it has cooled on the way someplace.

The arguments about this are always so fuckin disingenuous. "Mcdonalds sold cofee it knew could cause burns for years." Yea? And motorcycle companies sell motorocycles that can burn you, and cars with engines that can burn you. That's part of how it fucking operates. My coffee machine at home can burn me too. It's trying to overblow the situation. No, my coffee machine at home doesn't run it as hot as mcdonalds, but I want my coffee at home at home, not at work 40 minutes from then after its had time to cool

McDonald’s quality assurance manager testified that McDonald’s coffee, at the temperature at which it was poured into Styrofoam cups, was not fit for consumption because it would burn the mouth and throat.

Oh wow, like every decent coffee place EVER that serves to go? It's almost like many people add creamer or milk that cools it but might still want hot coffee. Or that people who order things TO GO, might being GOING someplace and have time to cool. All hot coffee will burn you. Not all will burn you that bad, but it's still deliberately stating something common as though it's scary. It's a scare tactic. It's dishonest, and fuck everyone who defends that bullshit.

I've never seen an argument for it that didn't make sure to include all sorts of fallacious bullshit reasoning like that. It's just another bullshit circlejerk that people use to whine about meanie corporations, while they actively work to shut down people pointing out valid reasoning.

It's not a valid suit. It's just people giving into their emotional manipulation with "oh those injuries look scary" and ignoring it's because she was old and thus more susceptible, literally was too stupid to hold a fucking cup, that people add shit to their coffee, and that orders TO GO are often for people who have someplace they have TO GO before they will drink their coffee.

Oh look, instantly downvoted by the dozen, but not a SINGLE counter point. No one even TRIES to deny my actual premises, because they're objectively true. Useful idiots. Learn to stop letting your emotions control you.

Dozens of downvotes, multiple replies, "you're ignorant" "Name something I was ignorant or not objectively right about in my claims." "<silence>". Cmon, fuckwits, if I'm so OBVIOUSLY ignorant and wrong, why can't you come up with even a SINGLE example of part of my reasoning or premises that wasn't objectively true?

Why not just accept that you were manipulated with emotional reasoning, and grow as a person and THINK? Too comfortable being stupid?

I'd like to thank the half dozen ESPECIALLY retarded people that went "omg u brought up 20 year old shit". No I didn't you fucking retards, the guy I responded to did.

Whelp, I'm out. Thanks for pvoign my point again, retards. Dozens of replies. Many about how easy it'd be to prove me wrong, but none actually tried. There's always some excuse. The closest toa counterpoint anyone had is "yea, well, it's not MY use case, so mcdonadls isn't allowed to cater to that one." Egotistical fuckwits that are so pathetic you can't admit to yourself you fucked up even as you explain how "easy" it'd be to prove me wrong, but make excuses to yourself for why you can't.

You just spent a lot of time showing everybody in this thread that you don't understand anything about the McDonald's case but you obviously have some very strong feelings for some reason but in case you were wondering the bottom line is they were told to stop serving so hot and they didn't and then somebody got injured from it so they were responsible.

Edit: and too stupid to hold a cup? Have you really never spilled anything? And really does McDonald's serve people different coffee if it's ordered Togo or not?

Maybe you should not be so ignorant before "calling our someone's BS"

It was a valid suit, which is why she won the case. She got coffee and accidentally spilled it in her lap. Due to how hot the coffee was (and her wearing cotton pants that soaked up the coffee and kept it on her skin) she got 3rd degree burns on 6% of her body, and 16% of her body was covered in lesser burns. I assume a lot of this anger stems from how much money she was awarded, but she was only originally suing for Mcdonalds to pay her medical bills. They declined and a jury awarded her 2.7 million in punitive damages to teach McDonalds a lesson.

Edit: also, the reason she spilled it was because she was adding cream and sugar to it. She was holding it in between her thighs, and it spilled when she was pulling the lid off.

You realise you're ranting about a case that happened 24 years ago, right?

[–]reallycoolboyfriend 1ポイント2ポイント  (2子コメント)

Whether or not you're right, I think you're being downvoted because you're hostile as fuck about it.

Learn to stop letting your emotions control you.

Says the guy getting irrationally angry over a 20 year old case.

[–]CallingOutYourBS -3ポイント-2ポイント  (0子コメント)

irrationally angry

entire point is that my claims are based on premises and reasoning, and no one has provided a single rational counter point or reason my premises are wrong
