And what makes Oxford Dictionaries more legitimate than Merriam-Webster? (Note that it's
not
the OED.) The thing with dictionaries is that they are slow to add new definitions, but if they don't have a definition, it does not mean that definition doesn't exist. Oxford lacks a definition that Merriam-Webster has, but since Merriam-Webster lists it, it obviously exists.
Anyway, I checked the OED, and it has this definition:
In extended use: a fanatical adherent or believer; a person characterized by obstinate, intolerant, or strongly partisan beliefs.
This sounds a lot like people from
/r/The_Donaldattr(title). However, I do not fit into that definition because I'm extremely tolerant. Though I will admit that I can be a bit stubborn. I suppose you could go with the "strongly partisan beliefs" part, but then aren't we all bigots?
But this isn't really the point. I want hateful people to leave reddit. That's all it comes down to.
