I've seen Hillary referred to as a "cunt" on this sub and have seen no action taken against it despite reporting it.

It isn't against the rules to call her a cunt. Or to call Bernie a cockface. Or to call Ted Cruz a piece of shit. Or to call Donald a fucktard. The civility rules are in place for other users, not for public figures.

    I find that an interesting rule...I've seen people label Trump a Nazi and get away with it, but if you label Bernie a Socialist you get bombarded with down votes and hate comments.

    That's pants on head stupid. The civility rules are supposed to be about keeping the level of discourse at an adult level where things don't turn into a cesspool.

    Moderators here should actually moderate. If they did, we would be able to have actual discussions about politics instead of what amounts to almost nothing but cheer leading for different candidates and relentless down voting of anyone who dares to criticize someone's favorite.

    Small wonder when someone mentions this place, most of the time people roll there eyes.

    Rules should be in place to enhance the quality of discourse on the sub. Though I think it would seem like your civility rules do that in theory, the truth is that discourse on this sub is some of the worst on the site. Either your civility rules do not work, or your enforcement of them is ineffective.

    Perhaps it's time to rethink your policies in order to develop some that actually accomplish what they are intended to accomplish. It's frustrating, as a long time Reddit user, to see what this community has become, and I think fault for that lies squarely with the moderating staff and its MANY mistakes over the last several years.

    They can talk about civility rules all day long, but it's pretty evident that people make personal insults all the time, most of which never get moderated.

    The entire mod team needs to be tossed and a group of people who actually care about the sub recruited.

    They're definitely selectively applied. This mod comment serves as case and point. Calling a poster a "moron" may, on some level, lower discourse on account of civility, but so, obviously, does running around calling people's preferred candidate a "cunt" or a "dickbag".

    Talking to another poster and telling them that they support a "cunt bitch" is about as uncivil as it gets.
