We desperately need a proper top quality #10 in the summer.

Lingard and Fellaini are miles off

Herrera isn't creative enough and can't beat a man.

Mata is too inconsistent and slow/weak.

Rooney is well past it, doesn't create enough or beat players

Rooney is our best no 10 hands down, the rest are pretty much useless imo.

Rooney has the best vision, best shot, and makes the most of possession. The problem with Rooney is that he seems to play with lead in his boots these days, back when he played no 10 in 2011, 2012 and 2013, he was still an explosive and dynamic player who could pick out passes and score goals combined with good defensive awareness. He isn't as mobile these days but he is still more effective than Mata and Herrera.

Mata- He is so small and weak, any decent opposition player will just kick him all game and render him invisible, also without runners ahead of him he is even more less effective.

Herrera- Sometimes has a great game but doesn't go enough consistently, hence he is always dropped by LVG at some point. I prefer him more in a deeper midfield role anyway.

Fellaini- Just makes me depressed seeing him play in the no10 role, but he can be effective higher up when he is used as a literall battering ram, opposition defenders can't keep up with him on his day. Not a very good "footballer" though.

He's the best of a bad bunch but still not good enough.

As you say without his explosiveness he just doesn't have the ability anymore, he doesn't score as much and can't beat players and his passing isn't good enough for him to fall back on it and stil be top quality

Rooneys passing range is poor apart from the diagonals he doesnt offer much , his shooting is average and he nearly tries to take everything on his right, his work rate has dropped off since Moyes and hes not disciplined enough to play the Oscar role.

People saying about strikers but our biggest problem is that we lack creation. SAF had Scholes,Carrick,Giigs now we only have Herrera and Mata. Herrera is good enough for back up but we paid Mata too much and he is just the shadow of his former self. James is leaving Madrid, I read that from many reliable sources and with Mendes we can definitely sign him. He is exactly what we need, Mata and Fellaini are nowhere near his class.

Depends on the formation. If it's a 4-2-3-1, probably Mata and Lingard. If it's a 4-3-3 like we saw on Wednesday, probably Rooney.

Standard definition of 433 doesn't have a CAM? Usually a single pivot, and 2 CM's ahead of him.

Depends. Can have a classic 6 with two 8s, or a six with two mobile 8-10 hybrids that alternate pushing forward as a second striker (like Rooney and Lingard did).

I would rather play Januzaj or Andy p instead of spending like 80 million on James and playing him out of position.

None of them. If we want to compete at the highest stage, we need better players. Herrera, Mata, Lingard, and Fellaini are average players at best.

Rooney is the best option we have, but he's past it, and he's aging.

None of these players would make it into any of the top club's starting XI.

With that said, this summer, we have to get James.
