Dropped my PRO Pledge to $1 .......
scott drechsler 41 minutes ago
Even though I dropped my pledge from pro pack down to $1 a little while back (without all the fanfare and whining) I have been checking in on this project in the vain hope that it would come good. After all I was super excited to get on board. Now though with such a small window of time left and pretty much Zero communication from its creators to ease the concerns of the backers, I am quite gad to be in for only $1. I dd read somewhere down in the comments asking why people still back at the $1 point and not just opt out completely. Well for me personally, its because I want to take this journey with the creators and see where it all ends up, for better or worse. I personally hope for the backers, its for better.

I just turned back to $1 from $119 pack. olo

There...It's just too risky. Turned my $158 Pro Pack pledge into a $1 one....To everyone who's still sticking through, i salute you and hope that Olo starts realizing what kind of mistake they are making right now..real soon.

I'm about to cancel mine as well. Seems pretty obvious that the creators have absolutely no intention of communicating with, and alleviating the concerns of, the backers they're about to take OVER TWO MILLION DOLLARS from. Best of luck to everyone who sticks with this in spite of all the warning signs. I'll wait for retail, assuming that ever happens. Super Early Bird slot will be available any minute now...

@Frosty_Froze, they add a shipping charge
Frosty Froze about 3 hours ago
I don't think they plan on delivering any product how can they ship anywhere in the United States or Canada or the rest of the world all for the same price, it seems like a money grab

if they dont even take time to reply once with real info or answer a question, what makes u think they can get out 15 000 units

I was expecting some update today, maybe a sign they understand the concerns I have read on the comments, there is still time, guys.

I've never seen this kind of dissent with so many people dropping their pledges. I dropped mine a while back, but keeping the $1 to track/add comments etc and see their "backer only" communication/updates....if they have any communication worth reading.

I'm shocked they've raised so much with what little they've put on display. This has all the earmarkings of a train wreck. Regardless....good luck to those brave souls who stick with it.

I hope that OLO really becomes something real, soon enough to outrun the competition and real enough to actually produce usable prints. As for me, after following very closely the whole campaign and just staying for the past month with $1 to see what happened, I am letting this one go for good.
Good luck to all the backers and OLO

Good luck OLO with the project, but the communication is not according to my expectation. I'm out. Somebody will be happy to get my early backer position...

I don't ever do this but folks this team is not responding so those who remain and don't get anything or get broken crap please don't complain. ALL the signs are here that this is gonna be a crap project. I only hope I'm wrong. Dropping EB going for $1 to keep up with comments. I'm really feeling sorry for the $1k backers that stick it out. A cool $2 mill these folks get to walk away with. GL again.
Matt about 7 hours ago
As a backer from day one, I've read most the comments and have the same concerns as many of the vocal backers on here. DIY SLAs are gaining momentum, and with the help of daylight resins from companies like photocentric3d and software from people like nanodlp I'm sure this trend will continue. I'd like to see OLO help as part of this revolution, but their lack of "real" communication to backers in the last month (including more photos & videos as requested by many backers) makes me think this wont be the case.
Good luck backers (& OLO), but I'm out... (& I'm not even going to waste $1 to keep up with the comments)

Under 48 hours left and still no answers... I feel way too conflicted about the project and will release my pledge.
Hope the project goes well and they deliver. Will buy it when it hits the market!
Max Hancock about 7 hours ago
Getting more anxious about backing this project as it reaches the end. Don't like how quiet they are about whether or not the egg was intended to be an egg, as it is coincidentally a stretched out version of the spherical model they have plastered all over their campaign. Although, that particular issue is fixable in software anyways, but the real question is why does it seemingly take them weeks to produce a semi-presentable print? With as much money as they're getting now, at least a dozen prints on display should be a given. If there is a functioning prototype, this should be a near effortless task.
Will give it til near the end before I pull my money, but it looks like they've stopped caring about concerns at this point and just went full marketing/partnerships/celebration.
The device itself should be pretty easy to make, but it's hard to tell if OLO really wants to make it, or just sell the idea. Plenty of other 3D printer kickstarters have failed to deliver despite being pre-proven concepts, so I have to be critical here.

If this is true how can they justify $30 for shipping in the USA? So as others have done I am canceling my pledge. I hope they are successful at bring the OLO to market so I can buy one.

He's basically just explaining the basics of this printer (stuff covered in the kickstarter). You get a clean view of the interior of the box.
Make what you will about this. I'm still annoyed that they haven't produced better quality prints, and there's 2 days left.
Robo Durden about 8 hours ago
time to go for me too. Such a pity the creators live on another planet :-/
Yes i really like it when they think big in https://all3dp.com/olo-interview/#update
> we are setting up three different producers. One will be in America, one in Europe, and another one will be in the East.
The usual tinker-creators would choose one Chinese manufacturer and we would have to take months of delay and additional import customs fees.
Here it seems, the creators only focus on marketing
> The great part is that we have hundreds of distributors waiting for us, so it’s not just about how many printers we have for our pledged backers but also how many people want to sell and want to buy on a traditional market.
I like it when they think big. But i don't want to back people who don't care for the end consumer nor for the idea of crowd funding.

I too am about to drop pledge... reading comments I agree. I actually had some of the same questions that most of you pointed out. I think there are other projects on KS that are reasonable in price with much better authenticity.
One has to ask though, if this was a scam of some sort, why would they do something like say the device communicates over audio. That seems so... wrong? It would be so easy to say "It uses Bluetooth" which makes the whole project more believable.
--- With that note, why are you guys NOT using Bluetooth?

I'm from a "long time" a Kickstarter's user (my first plege was done 5y ago) and I know patience and possibly (LONG) delays there.
But, Concerning OLO: it's The first time I feel so uncomfortable: an absolut silence from creators concerning backer's comments with legitimate questions...

@Saeed You are correct: Eric saw that communication was key to keeping the backers at ease....even though some people wanted a refund after the long wait. My Orange Pebble took 8 months to arrive....
Saeed Khan about 12 hours ago
@Russell What changed in the last portion of the Pebble fundraising that changed your mind. We know that the project was very successful in the end, but was there a change in communication.
BTW, was the Pebble delivered on time?
Malith about 13 hours ago
While it won't be too difficult to get hold of an Android smartphone (the majority of devices in my household run Windows Phone) it would be more convenient. There was a brief mention of Windows Phone compatibility, could the creators please confirm whether there is a Windows 10 Mobile App, in development or otherwise?
Russell Zweers about 14 hours ago
After reading the comment section for a while....Im considering pulling out my $158 dollar pledge. I want to wait it out, but...very valid points have been made to doubt the project's credibility.
However, the same thing also happened with the Pebble Smartwatch (I was one of the backers): people felt uneasy because of the silence.
I guess its going to come down to these last hours for themprove that they actually have a functioning prototype....and for me to keep my pledge. Whatever the outcome, people will be leaving and nay-saying regardless :p

Thanks again for your support and feedback.

I'm not optimistic about this
1 about 23 hours ago
I'm on the early bird for 2 but leaning towards dropping as I'm not confident this will be successful in the end.
People ranting about $2m being alot of money. In actual fact its not much at all considering they have to make the product and ship to over 15000 people.
I'm worried that they will blow their budget. The lack of communication is also a problem as it tends to be the creators that don't communicate, have no real updates of substance seem to fail in the end.
I'm also on the early bird for slash which I have a lot more confidence in.
I'm trying very hard to be optimistic with this campaign.

I'm skeptical about this, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, and see if anything else is posted before the project is funded. The lack of communication does smack of arrogance or a total lack of business sense, but there could be a legitimate explanation. I guess we'll see over the next few days.
Max Hancock 1 day ago
@Cayo It should be comparable to the prints in the photocentric3d.com gallery, as they both use the same idea. They have one image that seems to be a miniature character. Not as good surface quality as an expensive UV resin printer like the Form1, but better than a filament printer. Some primer may be enough to smooth out the layer artifacts, but it's hard to say without trying.
Cayo 1 day ago
After reading the comments I'm really considering pulling the plug on this one. My only reason to support this is to have a 3d printer capable of creating "good enough" miniatures for my board games, but sincerely, I can't even find the actual precision of this printer. Does anyone know if it will be capable of creating such miniatures mith reasonable detail?

@3DG good luck, i backed off but it is too much fun to see the comments so i stepped back temporarily.
How are you enjoying the half bike? I took it out today ... than rain came :-(

Thanks Francesco, I read through some of the comments and see people looking for an unedited video - which makes sense of course!
As an operator of a liquid resin 3d printer, some things did give me pause (such as the warm water rinse statement) but that may actually work - I tend to rinse parts in alchohol and perhaps this would give a better result. They do mention using alchohol to "refine the surface finish". They also mention things that match my experience Exactly, like letting the print sit in sunlight a little longer to fully cure.
So, for myself I've avoided backing further printers on Kickstarter for some time (the one that used drops of water to raise the level was particularly far-fetched sounding!). But this idea is simple enough that I think it will actually work for basic prints. For $100ish, that's all I'd ever be looking for from something like this.
The real question is whether they are in over their heads / had expected to be able to hit this kind of mark, in my opinion. 15,000 backers likely means some delay. So, it's definitely a risk - but one that I think could be worth it...
I'd peg this campaign as one of the higher risk / higher reward campaigns that I have backed... and I've backed over 250 ;). But having read all about Zano (which I only pledged $1 on due to concerns like you all have expressed here) it does give me pause! That said, I'm hoping for a final video from the creator to help put people's minds at ease.
---
@ Creator - Hopefully you've seen the posts and can put together an unedited video, perhaps even as a "backers only update", without any polish but just showing the raw print. That would seemingly answer a lot of people's questions!
---
I did just look on the main page, and the video right at the top of the description does indeed have a phone showing a sphere, which prints out an "egg" instead. However, while that is far from ideal, it does lend credence to the fact that that's a real video - why in the world would they show that otherwise? And it seems like something that should be easily able to be adjusted in settings as they finalize the product, since it has all the features... just comes out elongated and egg-shaped instead of sphere-shaped.
Cheers for your thoughts Francesco and I'll be watching closely here!
Francesco 1 day ago
It is soooo fun to read the comments.
I agree with people like creative thinker, if you are like me and do not believe in it get out. Totally out. Let people who believe in this enjoy the ride. It is the end, time to leave and move on.
@3DG there are lot of red flags. From using sounds in a spectrum where mobile phone speakers are rather bad (this is an understatement) to a print that (as somebody finally noticed) has a very irregular and weird right side. From creators being arrogant to lack of videos and photos of prototypes. From a campaign focused on ribbon received with just an idea and mockups to a "give me the money" attitude. From a statement about resin that needs only rinsing under water in a sink (to remove the unsure surface residual), to the accurate statement uncured resin is toxic and needs to be disposed as dictated by the local regulations.
However, the product is easy to make and if they ask for help something will come out. I personally do not support (bad) marketeers but real makers.
It will be great fun to follow this project from outside.
PS: I do disagree about filament, every 3D tech has its uses. But this would be a great chat over some beer or wine, not here.
3rd Dimension Gear (3DG) 1 day ago
Regarding the PCB comment below - large Kickstarters often need to pull in some helpers to answer questions - I'd be shocked if the creator didn't know the term, of course, but I really doubt that's the case!
Anyway, looking forward to some context guys if you can give it to me, and all the best to the OLO team in the final stretch here!
3rd Dimension Gear (3DG) 1 day ago
Hey guys - I'm super late to the party, but have been tracking this project for some time and was able to upgrade my pledge with one of the early birds someone else vacated =).
I actually got a Form1 3D Printer through Kickstarter, which was a crazy large investment. I've also in the past built a MakerBot (one of their "Thing-o-Matic" printers from quite a few years ago) so I'm familiar with filament based printers.
In my experience, filament printers are just not the future... and something like the Form1 is so expensive that I don't see it really breaking many barriers, even though it's cheaper than most competition liquid resin printers. But the OLO could be revolutionary!
For around $120, I feel it could be worth the risk, but I wanted to ask - what are you concerns, based on the videos shown so far? I am seeing some skepticism in the comments and can't quite figure out where it is coming from, so some context / background would be very helpful. Thank you =)

i've pulled my plug on this one! as much as i would like to have faith in supporting this project. the creators doesn't seems to have that faith in sharing it out in the open. However, this project's goal have been achieved. Hence, i believe it'll be in the market in the near future. and I know i will not be in a lost and make a decision to purchasing one if i see it. Who know's it might be a better version. However, i know i'm not in a rush now to own one. =) thanks for i had the "Easter Egg".
