Can it be longer than a month? The case has honestly been discussed to death and nothing really new comes of those threads.

I mean with all due respect, but it's getting dumb reading everyone's pet theories on what they believe happened and why they're right.

If it's constantly being discussed then clearly people want to read about it? Makes no sense to remove content that people want to see. Setup a Jon Benet filter if it's that hard to skip the threads.

edit: i forgot censorship is what we do with things we don't like :(

There's literally an entire subreddit dedicated to the case, go post about it there.

A sidebar mention for cases with dedicated subs might help

Learn what censorship is. It's not "getting downvoted". The fact that I'm reading your comment means you were not censored. Own your words.

I think s/he was referring to the ban? Possibly?

On content? It has nothing to do with censoring. It is clear as day pointing people to a sub legitimately dedicated to the topic. It is literally the opposite of censoring, it is promoting deeper inquiry.

Look at /r/videos for instance. Last week the Space X landing made historical video content. It was undoubtedly going to the front page, over and over and over (and did). The mods started removing submissions of it because there already was a place to see that: It was already the number one post on that sub, and probably 4/10 of the front page, for a solid day.

At some point, you have to stop just repeating the same thing expecting a new result if you want to present a clear window for people to focus through. That means pointing people in the right direction.

And let's be honest, the Jon Benet case is somewhat of a joke about this sub, outside of the sub. That's how routinely it's brought up. And honestly it does take attention away from other cases which might benefit from a bit of public awareness. It's maybe the most popular unsolved crime in modern memory. It's the new Lindberg baby, but an adorable pageant princess to boot. There is far too much noise in the public about it, and again, the mods pointed to a legitimately better venue for that case in particular.

This is not censorship at all.

I agree. I've come to this subreddit to learn more about these popular cases and in the process learned more about the lesser known cases I never knew about.

no one is censoring anybody! This is a very small subreddit, as the mods point out there is a whole subreddit devoted to this topic you can go post over there to your heart's content.

    censorship

Stop throwing that word around like a golden ticket. It's not censorship, you are not being censored by the mods or anyone else. You are not being shut down due to your opinion. To use the word like that just waters it down for when censorship really does occur.
