Tbh I haven't watched it. A title like that, however, is like a title talking about exposing the liberal conspiracy behind global warming: it's a very strong sign that what you're about to see is bullshit.

I posted it to /r/badeconomics here; hopefully someone actually goes through and debunks it. Sadly, I don't have the time right now.

Because he's an assistant professor of finance there. IIRC, he has published some stuff. He's not about to win JBC for it or anything, and it might not even be enough to justify tenure if he didn't have his blogging as well. But he is one of the most publicly recognizable communicators of the field, like him or not. And just because he doesn't have the academic credibility of Krugman or Friedman doesn't make him a hack.

No. He doesn't write at an academic level but he doesn't try or claim to. Besides Krugman, he's one of the best known economics writers out there who actually studied economics (i.e. knows more economics than Klein and Yglesias, better known than DeLong or Ozimek).
