What does that have to do with anything?

Would you like to know more?

"would you like to know more" is a catchphrase used on the news broadcasts in the movie.

The book is actually recommended reading for the armed forces. The model of service=citizenship is pretty interesting, and high-ranking military officials have commented on the discipline and esprit de corps within it. I think there was a TIL about it awhile back, let me see if I can find it.

Edit: here

It's also a quasi-fascist militaristic society that hero-worships it's soldiers as the only "true" citizens. If it actually is recommended reading for our military, that's a little disturbing.

Part of the reason it's recommended is because of that controversial view. It's supposed to make you think, not indoctrinate you. The author also graduated from the US Naval Academy. The Navy Reading List is pretty diverse, I only got through a small chunk of it when I was in.

Yes, as a way to show how that society can be bad...

That isn't the authors intention. Heinlan supports his vision.

Good thing the author's intention isn't the most important thing when it comes to how YOU digest a book's message.

Well I digested it as though it was positively expressing those ideas, which might find purchase within the military. As did many others. Unless we're willing to go full pomo and say any and all interpretations are equally valid, than Heinlan's Utopian is deeply troubling from a modern democratic perspective.

Apparently the book actually has bugger all to do with the film.
