Consensus on Memphis? (self.reddevils)

Can someone tell me why Memphis doesn't get the abuse some of our other players do? Yesterday he played 90 minutes and I don't think he had a shot on goal. Yet somehow he's supposedly "coming back". Other players like Mata and Fellaini and Carrick play equal or better but get much more abuse. He's not done anything all season but people want him playing every week. I don't get it

Don't paint everyone with the same brush. He gets plenty of criticism on here.

The difference with Fellaini / Carrick is that Memphis is young and needs playtime through his struggle if he is ever to improve and adapt to the league. He's still a kid, and is very clearly extremely talented. He has potentially many years ahead of him at the club, but he won't amount to anything if he's benched every time he has a poor game.

It comes down to whether or not the club think his potential is worth his current struggles, and if they want if the risk will be worth the reward in the long run. He definitely hasn't been great this season, but I'd have liked to seen him given more game time off the bench.

Honestly haven't been impressed. He's obviously talented but in terms of work ethic & decision making (more important attributes) he's miles behind the likes of Rashford, Martial & even Lingard. People say he needs to play regularly to get the best out of him but I'd say he should be trying to make the most of the opportunities he is being given.

He's a talented player that runs on confidence. We've seen glimpses of what he can do, but if he doesn't play he won't be able to do that consistently.

Because he's young and in his first season in a new league. Plenty of players haven't had a great first season but have went on to become great, so he gets the benefit of the doubt. The others you mentioned have played here for years and have no excuse, although i suppose grandpa Carrick might.

People want him to play because he's exciting and we've had glimpse of what he can do. Although I say this as someone who doesn't mind when Mata, Fellaini or Carrick play
