How good is De Gea? (self.reddevils)

I'm talking on the sub reddit "soccer", I know it's not a great place but I was commenting on how poor Courtois has been and how he often in one on ones or general play gets caught in "no mans land".

Simply put this is where he has come out, not got there and then is too far out to backtrack but not made enough ground to tighten the angle.

Now I got heavily downvoted for that and then decided to state that De Gea is better, this lead to this.

"De Gea isn't even 8" and that was a pretty popular thought. They claim that these keepers are all better or equal to De Gea.

Neuer, Navas, Courtois, Hart, Bravo, Buffon, Casillas, Cech, Lloris, Ter Stegen.

Am I being Manchester United Biased? But im pretty sure De Gea is world #1 or 2.

Every time I watch Neuer, he makes some kind of mistake that leads to a goal. In the last 3 champions league games for example, against Juventus he came out of his goal and missed the ball which gave Juventus an open goal. Against Benfica he came flying out to get a cross he was no where near and nearly punched Alaba in the face doing so. Neuer has been like this for at least a year now.

Also earlier in the season against Arsenal, Bayern were all over them. Arsenal get a freekick, a cross comes in, out flies Neuer no where near it and the ball bounces into the goal. They ended up losing. I can't remember the last time De Gea generally cost us like that

De Gea is the second best keeper in the world behind Neuer. And the gap is smaller than most would have you believe.

We're lucky to have that position locked down for at least the next decade. Anyone who watched us post-Schmiechel and pre-VDS will tell you how important that is.
