How the above fixturs can affect us (thanks, /u/D1794)

  • Leicester are now uncatchable!
  • Spurs have Stoke away
  • Arsenal have Palace at home.
  • City go away to Chelsea
  • West Ham go away to leaders Leicester.
  • Southampton go away to Everton.
  • We cannot climb the table, we can only reduce the gap to 1 point behind City if Chelsea win.
  • We can drop to 7th if West Ham and Southampton win and we lose. A draw for us and a win for West Ham knocks us to 6th.

A little competition!

The first comment to this post will be one by myself prompting you to list your predictions for results of the matches today (apart from ours - use Going for Gold for that). Lets see if someone gets all the predictions spot on. There might be scope for some prizes in the future.

Note: To make it fair, the predictions can be edited until the kick off of the first game (so for this one it's 12:45 on Saturday 16th, April 2016).

Want to discuss? Sure. Start a thread before the games, and discuss wins or losses. Not just to mock them and have one delusional poster who will always think the rival won't ever win despite being 3-0 up... And then claim we will succeed with LvG or other nonsense.

This is better at least. Gets the banter in. Has discussion. Isn't just up to mock when rivals lose and then moan when they don't. At least now we have a discussion to start with. How it ends? Let's see.

We all know why the rival thread rules were brought in, because a Utd fan jumped the gun and the mods thought it made us look stupid. Just let the people upvote and downvote, it's what reddit is for. Less mods trying to suit themselves, let the people decide.

The previous rival threads were reactive, rather than a discussion. This one is meant to be a general discussion of the other games that can affect us. If we see City concede, we'll probably cheer. Difference is, someone didn't make the thread when they conceded for them to comeback and have us look stupid.

Like you said though, let the people decide. Make your own 'Rival watch' thread when another team has conceded.

Not many Utd fans want to discuss other games though. Do people watch City or Liverpool games? I don't but if I see a second goal scored against them and the goal posted in /r/soccer I'll have a look and be happy.

I love watching other games and try as much as possible to watch every live game I can. I find that - in real life - I much prefer watching and discussing other games with my friends who are United fans. Our discussions are more relevant because we talk about how an event could affect us, and even if it doesn't - it's just an option for people who may not want to go to other subreddits to discuss other matches.

I think feedback is the winner here. If people like it, I'm more than happy to continue with it.

Most of the subs comments are dank memes like posting about Liverpool, mike smalling etc.

An entirely undeserved but welcome massive golden opportunity this weekend. Chelsea are one of the few teams that are slight favourites against City at home and if we can't beat a non-team like Villa, we don't even deserve qualifying for Europa League next year. If things go our way this weekend, we are right up City's arse! (OK, that came out a bit odd)

Massive game for Sunderland as well. If Norwich win, it could look as if all 3 relegation teams -bar near miracles- are decided.

Where dreams are made of... If you're not Manchester United it seems this season. We lose when we need to win. We win when it doesn't matter as much. Others lose and we win. We lose and others win. We draw too. It's honestly so unpredictable other than the one constant is we are unpredictable often enough.

I was thinking that as we're a Manchester United subreddit, we should make a discussion threads only for games that are relevant to us (i.e. all premier league games and competitions we're in) and special games i.e Europa & Champions League finals and International competitions. What do you all think?

Depends on the variant you're playing. I'm in https://draftfantasyfootball.co.uk/ and both matches 100% do count. I don't actually agree with the implementation, but the XI I pick this morning is set until the last game is finished Thursday evening. If one of the players I've picked goes off injured in the first 5 minutes of a game today, they're set there until next week.
