Thank you, can't stand those rival threads popping up when they're 1-0 down anymore

Part of the reason I've put away some time to do this weekly. I enjoy discussing general football with fellow United fans than /r/soccer, to be honest!

Why not? You think there's a jinx?

Nah it's more of.... Nothing.... Nothing.... Yawn...

OH LOOK IT'S 1-0 to Sunderland against Arsenal!!! Hahahaha lol losers. I'm sure they'll lose. Pathetic cunts! Pfft! Lol.

3 minutes later... 1-3 to arsenal. Everyone shuts the hell up.

No discussion. Moaning about jinxing it.

Want to discuss? Sure. Start a thread before the games, and discuss wins or losses. Not just to mock them and have one delusional poster who will always think the rival won't ever win despite being 3-0 up... And then claim we will succeed with LvG or other nonsense.

This is better at least. Gets the banter in. Has discussion. Isn't just up to mock when rivals lose and then moan when they don't. At least now we have a discussion to start with. How it ends? Let's see.

Eh what's going to happen when the game starts? The exact same "nothing...nothing..yawn" stuff.

Like in real life if you see a team you hate go 1-0 down you will go yesssss haha shit cunts...

You don't wait until the end of the game to formulate a feeling.

We all know why the rival thread rules were brought in, because a Utd fan jumped the gun and the mods thought it made us look stupid. Just let the people upvote and downvote, it's what reddit is for. Less mods trying to suit themselves, let the people decide.

The previous rival threads were reactive, rather than a discussion. This one is meant to be a general discussion of the other games that can affect us. If we see City concede, we'll probably cheer. Difference is, someone didn't make the thread when they conceded for them to comeback and have us look stupid.

Like you said though, let the people decide. Make your own 'Rival watch' thread when another team has conceded.

Fair enough.

Not many Utd fans want to discuss other games though. Do people watch City or Liverpool games? I don't but if I see a second goal scored against them and the goal posted in /r/soccer I'll have a look and be happy.

I love watching other games and try as much as possible to watch every live game I can. I find that - in real life - I much prefer watching and discussing other games with my friends who are United fans. Our discussions are more relevant because we talk about how an event could affect us, and even if it doesn't - it's just an option for people who may not want to go to other subreddits to discuss other matches.

I think feedback is the winner here. If people like it, I'm more than happy to continue with it.

Not at all, I'm just not a fan of all the "dank memes".

Most of the subs comments are dank memes like posting about Liverpool, mike smalling etc.

And I rarely see dank memes in the rival thread.

for those who don't know,we actually might play Vila already relegated if Norwich avoids defeat today,or we might be the ones who relegate them if we don't lose

Not surprised. Villa have been so poor this season.

An entirely undeserved but welcome massive golden opportunity this weekend. Chelsea are one of the few teams that are slight favourites against City at home and if we can't beat a non-team like Villa, we don't even deserve qualifying for Europa League next year. If things go our way this weekend, we are right up City's arse! (OK, that came out a bit odd)

Massive game for Sunderland as well. If Norwich win, it could look as if all 3 relegation teams -bar near miracles- are decided.

Agreed! I feel like Chelsea can really do us a favour here but we have to capitalise....

where have I heard that before?

Well, it's not called the Theatre of Dreams for nothing :)

Where dreams are made of... If you're not Manchester United it seems this season. We lose when we need to win. We win when it doesn't matter as much. Others lose and we win. We lose and others win. We draw too. It's honestly so unpredictable other than the one constant is we are unpredictable often enough.

Secondly, please reply to this if you have any feedback for the future formatting of this thread, or any mistakes I have made in the current one. Thanks!

I was thinking that as we're a Manchester United subreddit, we should make a discussion threads only for games that are relevant to us (i.e. all premier league games and competitions we're in) and special games i.e Europa & Champions League finals and International competitions. What do you all think?

Don't see any harm in it whatsoever. If people don't like it they can just downvote it and move on. Guaranteed to be better than many of the articles posted here.

I'd enjoy /r/reddevils threads of big games that aren't directly related to us, like how /r/nba had a thread for the American college basketball playoff final, but I don't know how much traffic they'd get.

For those who play fantasy league, do points from both matches get added this week?

I believe it's a double gameweek, but don't quote me! source

[–]seaders*THE* Paul Parker

Depends on the variant you're playing. I'm in https://draftfantasyfootball.co.uk/ and both matches 100% do count. I don't actually agree with the implementation, but the XI I pick this morning is set until the last game is finished Thursday evening. If one of the players I've picked goes off injured in the first 5 minutes of a game today, they're set there until next week.

So does anyone think Chelsea can beat City?

[–]doesnt_like_pantsHerrera 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

They've been getting good enough results under Hiddink and they're pretty hard to beat at the Bridge. I reckon it depends on whether KdB turns up.

Mourinho's Chelsea, yes. Hiddink's maybe.

Maybe make comments sort by new like Rant & Info thread on /r/FantasyPL.

If we don't beat Villa today, we don't deserve champions league football.

If we can't beat this Villa at Old Trafford we don't deserve PL footbal nvm CL.

Hopefully Chelsea can do us a favour. If all goes well we'll be one point behind City by the end of tonight! Leicester beating West Ham would be great too

[–]K-QuickGeorge Best 0

Just really hoping City drop points.
