I think what you said about how you've seen FAR too many people using experience and statistics as an excuse is really representative of the "politically correct" culture we have on reddit - every single human being's opinions are based on experience, and if the statistics back that up, it damn sure solidifies that opinion and/or fact.

Sure, its not nice to say "brown-skinned people commit MOST street crime in BR" - but I'm sure almost 100% of BR people will agree, because we have lived in such a country for a long time, and we have all seen the horrible situation it is unfortunately in.

Sometimes the facts are offensive, i.e. skyrocketting rape statistics in certain EU nations which are directly proportional with mass refugeeism.

To be able to make positive progress in regards to a situation, people need to be able to face the issues and not "tapar o sol com uma peneira" which translates to "covering the sun with a sieve" - there's a mindset that ignoring a problem (or labeling it 'offensive' when it isn't really meant to offend anyone) makes it go away IMO, which is bad.
