I'm doing a similar system i'm using reactphp/event-loop to do event loops and sockets for messaging.

Problem is its out of the normal domain of php so im finding jr can't understand the concepts so keeping it in php because the devs know php is a bit of a false paradigm.

Well I mix C and PHP when a do extensions for PHP, its not that commen tho, python is coman on servers as a general scripting language,and Ruby could be used for the API and PHP for the frontend controller if they need to seperate concerns more.

so i'm thinking the app would be.

  • Ruby bace hybrid REST api (json).
  • Java and Objective C for the apps connecting to the api.
  • PHP app connecting to the api over a hybrid protocols hance C++.
  • Python servers as a general scripting language.
