The "disease" of bad choices.

You come here of all places to rip on someone speaking their condolences? Please, save the arguing for another thread. He was always helping people on here with kind words.

No, to try to get through to people who need help but think they are helpless. You had the power to get clean since this movie started.

Dude fuck you. You speak as if people are not different individuals. Just because one person can do something does not mean its possible for everyone else to do. Some dont have the tools, some dont have the history to know how to fight this, some dont care and give up, you have no fucking clue what is going on with everyone. Just throwing a blanket statement like that just shows how little you know about life.

In the end, the universe is just to big to care about any one person, but that one person could mean the universe to someone else... my condolences.

Listen to the man. Recovery depends on willpower and agency.

I do know that learned helplessness kills.

Lolz. You have no clue.

Yes I do. Lolz.

I have known more people from recovery who have died of overdoses than you have days.

You know dick. Come back and post when you take meetings into a detox and see people there for the fifth time in six months. Come back to me when you use against your will, if you survive it. Then again, you might not even be an addict.

People who commit suicide don't have mental illness, too, yeah?

people in detox for the fifth time in six months are really poor decision makers. No one uses against their will except in some pretty extreme circumstances. They may bullshit themselves cause they want to keep using ...

At the risk of sounding arrogant and like a bit of a dick, you're still very early in recovery. I'm not downplaying your success, what you've gotten is incredible. You may, however, eat those words in the future. It goes without saying, especially when someone on this sub passes away, that everyone here is one bad decision away from a relapse, or worse, but come on, man. This is a thread to pay our respects, not to argue about whether this man, or anyone that relapses, really wanted it or not.

I've been alcohol free for years and I did it by making better decisions. Then I made some bad decisions and got involved with dope. Now I'm applying what I learned from years of recovery. The main lesson is that no one else can make the horror stop but the addict making better decisions.

whoosh

/u/Reustle just dropped some solid knowledge on you, and you made it all about yourself. You got some growing up to do, friend.

What i have offered here is lifesaving advice. If you can't see that there's not much I can do for you.

I don't disagree with your advice, per se. I think it's the timing, delivery, and attitude that could use improvement.

Alcohol is for amateurs. Quitting drinking is easy compared to opiates.

Agreed. This is the LAST place to start this debate. If an addict in recovery that you were very close to relapsed and passed away would you say this shit at their funeral? It's easy to spout arrogant bullshit from behind a screen isn't it?

Yes they are acting in a delusional manner. True.

Let us know when you get a year.

You know dope changes your reward system right? Know that urge you get to have an orgasm? To have sex? Addicts have that urge to use dope. It's not simply 'making a decision.'

I don't think you're addicted or else I wouldn't have to explain this to you. A good man died and you're basically saying he simply decided he was gonna die. This man didn't want to die at all. You got a lot of growing up to do, apart from learning what addiction does to people.

Fuck right the fuck off. Do you seriously have nothing better to do?

I've been answering posts when I have free moments at work. Trying to help people is something I like to do. Cursing at me does not deter me. I want people to take action to help themselves so they don't die a sad lonely junkie death like is waiting for all who relapse.

You know most recovering addicts relapse at least once, rignt? I'm not even going to bother with you anymore because this isn't the right place and you must be really young to be so naive . Get off your high horse.

Fuck you.

You wish.

Not literally, I was cussing at you for riding your high horse in the wrong type of thread. You're wrong.
