Just an observation about social "cancer" I've noticed being upvoted around here: Referring to human beings as "bots" (ie "BernieBots" or "SandersBots") is a form of dehumanization and is truly malignant "cancer". (self.subredditcancer)

It's not about "dehumanization", this is about how reddit works and unfortunately reddit is susceptible to new accounts produced by people with an agenda.

First, I really don't consider supporters of Bernie Sanders (or anyone else currently running in the primaries) a stigmatized group.

Secondly, calling someone a bot (or a robot) seems like a pretty innocuous insult. This isn't 90s Rwanda calling people cockroaches that must be squashed in order to incite genocide. This is people over reddit.com calling people robots because various users' comments seem really cold, monotone & programmed in their support of a political candidate.

From the same wikipedia article you cited:

Mainly when I refer to warmongers using mechanistic dehumanization I refer to the zealous opponents of anti-war politician Ron Paul. Remember the "Paulbots" insult that they were so fond of? On reddit at least they were led by die-hard supporters of Bush, Cheney, the wars and the actions of the state of Israel.

When they are loud and proud advocates for aggressive war, yes. And regardless, calling a war advocate a warmonger is far less dangerous and malicious than dehumanizing all supporters of a politician.
