Ashamed to ask a question about tampons... (self.badwomensanatomy)

Hello. Can you pee while using a tampon? I have tried but it feels extremely uncomfortable. I usually wind up going as I'm pulling out the tampon. I feel like you would get urine on the tampon, but I'm sure that isn't right.

The reason why I haven't researched this is because I have a complete fear/phobia of urethra, both men's and women's. I have no idea why. It makes me feel sick and nearly pass out if I'm reading/listening to information.

I can pee with it in. You may get a little pee on the string but I usually hold it out if the way when I go.

You can, but sometimes it gets messy. As the other commenter said, you can hold the string it of the way which works pretty well.

Personally, I usually just take it out and switch tampons every time I use the restroom. I don't typically need to pee more often than I need to switch my tampon.

I usually reach from the back and hold the tampon string back while I pee, so it doesn't get wet. You could always take it out before you pee, but I have the same problem you're describing. So what I do is take it out before I even sit down and I'm good to go. I think it's kind of a mental thing, where once I'm sitting on the toilet it's like a switch is flipped telling me to start peeing. If I'm standing up, I can hold it.

If you have a urethra phobia it could be contributing to your discomfort when peeing with your tampon in, you might be over thinking it. Normally it's ok to pee with it in, there's no physical reason why it should be a problem unless you have a some kind of medical condition, but it's also normal to take it out first if that's your preference.
