Just seen City qualify for the CL semi finals for the first time just depressed the shit out of me. They've been ahead of us since 2012 and except for Fergie's last season they havent looked back since they've moved on past looking at United as the standard which they want to beat.

Personally i've been delussional for the past three years thinking that we're fine and we could bounce back at any moment given the right players. The fact is the club is in shambles when it comes to the football side of things. Financially we're doing well but without success on the pitch this will not last.

The club needs a jolt a change at the very core to come up to the standards of the rest of the big teams in europe. Fergie was a one off genius who could do it all himself but hes not around anymore and the club structure needs to adapt to modern times. If things are not fixed by next season we could descend into a Liverpool like whirlwind of delusion and failure. We need to accept that sacking managers is part and parcel of the modern game and we cant expect another genius like Fergie would come along and stay for 20 odd years.

I know this sounds depressing but I am past thinking about this season regardless of CL qualification and the FA Cup, we need a change and we need it sooner than later.

There comes a time where our crosstown rivals become the influence or standard in the pessimist's eyes.

Yes, they've qualified for the UCL semis, but they won't get further than that. They have Real to deal with, and possible a strong Bayern, Barca, Atetico, or Benfica side to deal with in the midst of it as well.

Besides, they're pouring everything into Europe, leaving themselves vulnerable in the EPL, also leaving 4th available for the taking- which is to be decided by us or West Ham.

In terms of squad, they're depth is that of a kiddie pool. Once they lose Aguero, Kompany or De Bruyne, they're done for in terms of form (as seen by their 2016 run in the EPL).

Don't sweat it, we've had dark periods before. The good thing about Man United is that we can get over it by just winning one thing (whether it be a game against a good side or a trophy).

Going through history, this is how football has played out. Teams dominate and peak then crumble and fall away. We've done it before, Liverpool did it Leeds did it. Maybe we'll pull a miracle out of the bag and turn things around, or maybe we'll drop off for 5-10 years until new ownership or a new generation of stars turn things around. If the latter happens, United will be a laughing stock but, (as much as I hate to say this) like Liverpool, our real fans will stay behind the team no matter what and we will wait patiently until form returns.

I really don't know what to say, watching City win tonight with my dad and it was just heart-breaking, what have we become?

I don't see what we can do to change our situation really, our squad just isn't good enough to compete in all these big competitions, even after spending crazy amounts. We crashed out of the CL and then the EL, we might get the FA Cup but considering the other four teams in the competition, I should be a lot more confident that I am.

We have so many new players in our squad and a whole new structure to build after SAF. Add to that and a way stubborn manager. All top,clubs have ups and downs, hopefully with all that wealth we will bounce back sooner.

City have also spent more than us (net) in the past five seasons, even this past one too. It's not surprising that that kind of investment led them past us. And that's not even taking into account the fact that we have been wasteful in our transfer business too.

City spent massive this summer and they re still shit. They were lucky so far with Juventus struggling in group stage and missing 1st place and now with PSG their midfield was missing even Motta picked injury and Verratti,Matuidi are world class. With Mourinho and James;) we will be back.

We almost reached semis under Moyes. Their performances are very bad this season u can see that in premier. in champions league there is allways luck factor.

Regardless of how they did it they are ahead of us any way you slice especially in the CL. We've also spent tons of cash during van Gaal's tenure with no result to show for. I think Mou would be a great solution but please let's not buy any more Madrid players we'll end up over paying and the return is uncertain.

They have more experienced team. Yes we spend much but mostly for young unproven talents who need time. Di Maria is a cunt but he is world class he could have been much better with another Manager. Mourinho can deal with players like that because he wants to win titles.

What the clubs needs is at least 4 WC players and a strong supporting cast. I believe it's that straighforward.

Zlatan/Ronaldo, James, Kroos/Kante, Mahrez will solve a majority of our problems. We don't have any talent that can change games or evoke passion or a desire to grow from the rest of the team. We have a lot of average players and no one above average to tip the scale in our favor.

City are not a real club. They're buying everything. If you had to compare them, they'd be that kid that buys all the weapon unlocks in Battlefield so he doesnt have to unlock them himself.
