Korinthos is not a small village in Achaia. Hell, it is not even in Achaia. It's at the Korinthos prefecture and it is the head city. It's about 60k strong.

Having said that, outside of Athens you will have quite the hard time get the things you want.

If I may suggest, you should alter your diet while you are in Greece: Lents, beans, squash, zucchini or something like that. And if anybody asks, tell them you used to have colics or some disease with your intestine track which gets a lot better when you eat a vegetable-only diet. Otherwise, they will keep trying to offer you the things you do not want to eat "just to try".

As I said, outside of Athens it will be probably impossible to find the things you like to eat. Why don't you get some Soylent with you, and again, when somebody asks, tell them you are on a special diet because intestine track issues. Otherwise they will bust your balls asking on earth are you a vegan - They won't do it out of malice, but out of curiosity, but it will get annoying after some time.

Vegan sushi? Forget sushi outside of Athens and maybe Thessaloniki.

But seriously, are you being vegan out of ideology?

No it won't be easy when ordering food because while the concept of vegetarianism distilled as "no meat please" is quite clear, veganism is not widespread enough for the cook/chef/line cook to be perfectly clear that you do not wish any of the ingredients to include any animal products whatsoever.

If you order in a tavern and say "vegan, no animal products" I'd bet my left nut that the cook would never ever ever actually read through the ingredients list on everything to ensure that they have zero animal products.

Other than that, if you prepare your own food you're golden. Milk will be a bitch to find though.

People suggested the "tell them you have an illness or a weak stomach" bit because it would make things easier for both you and your hosts.

The way the fast works in real-world Greece is that some people (increasingly becoming a minority) fast for 40 days before Easter and that's it.

Preaching proper purity of religious dogma to real-world average modern-day Greeks will go down about as well as describing your carnism worldview to people who lived through the Axis occupation.

Edit: 2) There's a dickload of vegetable-based dishes and even more that can be adjusted to be meat-free.

3) Who fucking eats in front of a guest without offering any? That said of course people in Greece are regulated by money, we're not some hippie utopia that dodged the ravages of the modern world, we're one of the most corrupt countries in the EU ffs.

You'll be staying with family, so you'll have access to a kitchen? It should be a piece of cake if you're in the habit of eating whole plant foods instead of processed bullshit.

For anyone coming in here after 24 days: Give up, this is almost necroposting.

How is subredditdrama shit stirring like this allowed? I thought vote briganding was not allowed?

They created a 600+ comment thread in their own cesspool subreddit and directed hundreds of people who voted and commented back in this thread(with much more being votes than comments) all with no intention of dealing about the topic of where or how hard it is to find vegan food in Greece.

I'm sorry for this, I should have locked the thread sooner, but it's the first time (since I've been appointed mod) that there's been subreddit drama in /r/greece.

Vote brigading is discouraged, but there is no way for reddit or myself to know when vote brigading is happening.

My question is more along the lines of how their subredditdrama group can get away with it? I seriously don't know as I haven't been posting for long and don't know the inner workings of reddit. So many comments and votes were added to this thread(again mostly votes). On /r/vegan they have a sticky saying to not vote brigand, but it seems a group created just created for drama like that seen here doesn't have any problems with their much worse briganding.

Reddit is a very diverse place, so there's a place for trolls as well. I'm not saying that /r/SubredditDrama is a subreddit especially for trolls, but it's fertile ground.
