What is you're strangest position change and substitution made my LVG? (self.reddevils)

People in the match thread were going on about how many times he has changed our team,made weird subs, and how this could have directly affected where we finish.

What's the strangest sub and position start you have seen?

For me,

Position Change - Januzaj to LB.

Sub - Nick Powell for Mata in crucial CL tie.

In a must win UCL game, he brings on Nick Powell for Juan Mata. I couldn't believe my eyes.

In a must win PL game to keep top-4 alive, he plays Young as a striker, lol, what?

Let's not let our players off easy here and give the manager the entire blame - 3 of our 5 defenders were shite yesterday. Rojo, Blind and Darmian were incredibly bad in the situations that lead to the spurs goals. That is directly the players fault, not LvG.

BUT!

In the span of almost two seasons we have seen no improvement, fucking weird tactical decisions, negative football and lesser and lesser chances created/shots on target.

I can't believe LvG is still in charge. He must have brainwashed the entire board with his philoshophee shit.

I think a lot of our non-youth players are lacking in confidence. Rojo and Darmian were all bought by LvG, and he has managed to destroy their confidence. When Darmian arrived, he was phenomenal, then his form completely nosedived. It sounds like what happened to Angel Di Maria.

ADM started off extremely well. Then, his form dipped, and he got benched.

In terms of Blind, I think he's just tired. He has played far too many games without being rotated, and playing center-half when you're undersized like Blind, you get a beating from the big, physical PL strikers. He needs to be given a rest.

You provide valid points but in the end their personal errors did cost us those goals, not LvG's instructions. Look, I'm not arguing that they are good players, look nowhere further than my flair for evidence of that. But I'm just trying to tell you that maybe it's not all on the manager. The players get off too easily, especially the popular or handsome or those active on social media. We need to be more critical and demandig of the player's efforts too

I'm not very good at analysing formations from what I see on Tv so could you or someone explain where Mata was playing yesterday? I found him most of the time in a right wingback kind of position.. Young and Lingard seemed to be interchanging and Marital stayed left mostly.

I actually saw his reasoning on that - they were leaving space on the outside of the box for long-shots - I'd rather Fellaini lay it back and RVP shoot than vice versa there.
