    I have a beautiful step-daughter whom I deeply love and cherish. I understand her standoffishness(forgive the fake word) because she's only spent one summer and a few holidays with me in her life.     I have a beautiful step-daughter whom I deeply love and cherish. I understand her standoffishness(forgive the fake word) because she's only spent one summer and a few holidays with me in her life. She spends the school year with her mother and step-father 10 hours away. But she'll be here for her birthday and I want to get her something perfect. She will be eight. I don't want to have to ask her mother for a variety of reasons and as her innocent voice reminds me "dad is clueless." I know she's a disney kid, high school musical, cheetah girls, ect, but I really want to get her something special that would help bridge the gap between our personal relationship. I love kids, I get them, don't get me wrong. I'm actually a primary school teacher myself. I'm just looking for a little extra help this time. Any ideas?
