Started well, the pressing was really good for half an hour or so.

Not doing too much in attack.

Mata is being made to defend wayyy too much.

Yeah, that naivety of youth is showing. He's chasing Eriksen all over the pitch, I think that is why we heard those screams from the bench directed at him near the end of the half. He's been solid overall, if he can get the positional discipline down then he'll do great.

Goddamn, look TFM is a great defender. He is making important, tackles and interceptions, but that RB position is gaping. Mata is forced to cover there way too much. TFM is a beast but it seems like his positioning isn't too good at the moment.

Fosu-Mensah has done well and has made some vital blocks, but he's been all over the place. Finding himself in the middle of the pitch more often than not, which leaves Mata of all people on his own covering RB - something I'm sure Pochettino will pick up on and look to exploit if it's not dealt with. Looks like TFM has been told specifically to stick to Eriksen, so Eriksen is dictating where he takes him to create space.

Obviously attacking play is lacking, but we deserve credit for stifling their attack as well. Kane and Eriksen have been contained for the most part, and I hardly heard Alli's name in the first half - got to continue in the second. For me, have to introduce Young for Mata at some point in the second if it continues in the same vein.

Also, TFM turns me on.

When Mata gets the ball, they close him really early and fast, and Mata ends up getting wrestled off the ball and losing possession. Honestly, for today's game, we would be better suited with Valencia playing in Mata's position.

We are doing well at the back, bar a few lapses and near calls. But we lack the creativity going forward. I feel like Rashford and Martial are isolated and being forced to do everything. Lingard as a 10 is terrible, Mata out wide is disastrous.

Mata to 10. Lingard off for Memphis. Carrick off for Herrera. I think that'll create more going forward

I think he's been good defensively - the only incident I can think of where he made a mistake was where he let Lamela into the box. Also, he is keeping control of the ball well (holding it on the line and causing the spurs to hit it out by tackling him). His passing has also been good I believe - only one cross was fired way too far but even then Smalling was there to receive it, so he didn't cause us to loose possession. I hope I have been reading his game correctly.

I don't like Lingard playing no. 10 position. He isn't helping developing the attack in the final 3rd. I understand we don't really have a good option for this position right now. But him playing this position is just not effective. He could have been a better impact in the wing position by opening up the width of the right side.

Fosu-Mensah is playing like a RW... this just puts too much pressure on Mata.

Think that's a bit harsh, he was forced to cover up waaaay too many times on the right for TFM and did a great job at it. Memphis has been known not to track back, if he'd have been on, could quite easily have been a couple of goals down.

Young will help defend much more and will be able to push Danny Rose back as he's much more of an attacking threat when on the wing compared to Juan.

TFM has been by far our best player. The only reason Rose is so far up is because Mata loves time on the ball and he has clear instructions to prevent that. Everyone knows when Mata is on the wing he's a liability.

How you push Rose back is threaten him with pace and creativity that could get around him, Mata provides neither.
