United's top 10 home Premier League goals

After we painfully whittled down a total of 1,000 Premier League goals at Old Trafford to a highly-refined video shortlist, we asked you to vote on ManUtd.com for the very best of the bunch. Below - and in the media player above - you can see how our 10 nominees fared in the fan poll, in reverse order...

10th - Mark Hughes v Sheffield Wednesday, 16 March 1994 - 0.4%
A goal of the utmost power, struck perfectly on the half-volley from over 30 yards, and with added points for cannoning into the goal via the underside of the crossbar. A work of brutal beauty.

9th - Andrew Cole v Leicester City, 6 November 1999 - 0.8%
Little appeared on when Solskjaer headed a long ball into the air, but Cole quickly leapt, contorted and arrowed a sublime scissor kick into the Stretford End goal, via the inside of Tim Flowers’ post. 

8th - Wayne Rooney v Bolton Wanderers, 17 March 2007 - 1.1%
From the moment Ronaldo chested down a loose ball inside his own area, it took him and Rooney a combined 10 touches to transfer it into Jaaskelainen’s goal in one of the all-time great counter-attacks.

7th - Anthony Martial v Stoke City, 2 February 2016 - 1.5%
Carrick, Lingard, Rooney, Darmian and Mata all had their fingerprints on a goal crafted deep inside the Reds half, before Martial applied the coup de grace with a deadly finish whipped into Butland’s far corner.

6th - Cristiano Ronaldo v Portsmouth, 30 January 2008 - 3.4%
Sir Alex Ferguson called it “the best free-kick in the history of the Premier League.” The skill needed to generate a kick of such ferocity and accuracy, with so little room in which to work, is utterly mind-boggling.

5th - Wayne Rooney v Newcastle United, 24 April 2005 - 3.6%
One minute, the 19-year-old was berating the ref, the next he was venting his fury with an unstoppable, dipping, swerving volley that might have hospitalised Shay Given if he’d got anywhere near it!

4th - Eric Cantona v Sunderland, 21 December 1996 - 5.7%
The signature goal of our talismanic showman - a measured chip in off the top of the post, followed by a slow-motion turn to all four stands to confirm that yes, everybody may bow to the king.

3rd - Robin van Persie v Aston Villa, 22 April 2013 - 6.6%
On an evening when United's 20th league title was clinched, van Persie’s remorseless volleyed despatch of the ball - from a remarkable Rooney pass - was scarcely believable.

2nd - Dimitar Berbatov v Blackburn Rovers, 27 November 2010 - 30.5%
Deep inside his own half, Berbatov expertly picked his way out of traffic with Evra's assistance, spread a delicious pass wide to Nani and then slotted the subsequent return high into the Stretford End goal. 

1st - Wayne Rooney v Manchester City, 12 February 2011 - 46.4%
Previously declared the greatest Premier League goal by anyone, anywhere, Rooney’s most famous Old Trafford strike had everything: athleticism, technique, improvisation and power. Oh, and it was the winner in a derby match. No wonder it was your no.1 in our #OT1000 poll. Thanks to everyone who voted.
