Let's not

Why not, it's so much fun mate. Get a random player (must be good on fifa and youtube videos) and then slap a figure next to their name. A few sentences of bollocks and you're done.

It's all relative to the revenue being generated. Transfer fee's have went up massively, but so has revenue.

We're poised to be soon generating over £500,000,000 a year soon. Football has commercially grown tremendously the past 10 years.

48.5m for Ronaldo will be peanuts when his image rights will bring in more than the transfer fee itself.

Yeah it would be a good deal for us in many ways, but it's still hard not to feel mugged off by this.

Real Madrid buy him off us in his prime for a now bargain £80million, he then spends his best years in a Madrid shirt scoring over 300 times and has 5/6 50 plus goal seasons in a row. Then Real Madrid sell him back as used goods for £50m and now he has knee problems too and his all round game has suffered a bit whilst his finishing is more immense.

It's like dating a good looking woman during her teen years, once she blossoms into a 10/10 she leaves you for some next rich guy. Now once she is less pretty and rich guy leaves her but she still a 8/10, she wants to get back with you but now you gotta raise her 2 kids she had with the other dude. You still got a sexy woman but with more baggage this time.

Terrible analogy I know, but I'm sure a lot of people won't want him back, Personally we need someone of his quality and at 31, he might have 3 good years left.

Oh definitely we're getting mugged off here but the silver lining is he hasn't really won all that much away from us.

Demand and Supply.

Also when you got imbeciles like Woodward about who are willing to pay such massive fees(Sometimes for not so good players) then fees will be inflated.

Inflation and competition are the answers. It's doesn't make any sense to compare raw numbers 10 years apart, zero... And the money in football and the competition between big clubs is at an all time high.
