How do you know you're "enlightened"? I don't see any light coming from your words, just whining.

When you get the point and you see a bunch of people who think they get the point, it's funny to point it out

Sounds like you've got a big ego. You're dodging the question. How do you know you're enlightened and they arent? What is "the point"?

When you let go of your ego, you still have it. You're just no longer constrained by it. I could've left this sub without a word, but I didn't. Oops

You will never leave.

Maybe not, I subbed to /r/Zen before my enlightenment so we'll see

if you cannot see reality's perfection, can you truly be enlightened?

(1) Enlightment beings e.g. Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, patriarchs and sages are people who have nothing to do i.e. nothing to seek.

(2) You are still seeking wisdom.

(3) Therefore you are not enlightened.

Just because I'm seeking wisdom doesn't mean I need to seek it

That's what a drug addict would have said about drugs.

Sounds like you know everything

And you're trying to too, no?

It didn't take knowledge or wisdom to become enlightened, just some breathing. But I'm not going to cease learning all of a sudden

You might be suffering from auditory hallucinations, because that's a baseless conclusion.

Why are you still here then?

Hi rathskellar,

"...all of those subs are full of posts that actually get the mind going or helping people"

Maybe in this sub, get the mind going isn't helping people?

"a bunch of people trying to make as little sense as possible" -- or snap people out of cognition

"who isn't trying to seek more wisdom?" -- from within? Keep looking, it's in there.

Hats off to your boldness!

It doesn't seem to be working, how can you snap people out of cognition with cognition?

Clear the roots of their psyche.

It's working as it should.

You have to want to snap out of cognition.

Nobody can force that on you.

Be patient (with yourself)

:)

Maybe it is working, I'm not saying this sub hasn't helped people. I just think there could be a lot more substance to people's posts like there are in other subs

People help themselves when they are ready.

"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

A sword can destroy a sword.

Ehm. Maybe you just don't get it?

What is there to get?

What's going on in these conversations.

Often, people are talking to each other in a way that is quite different to how people speak in real life, and how people interact on a forum. Does that mean that it's all nonsense? Well, maybe. But maybe the conversations you're reading are meant to be only understood between the people talking, or maybe they're a different kind of conversation than you're used to and you just don't get it.

It's also the case that a lot of comments are just masturbatory, but that's not a huge deal. I can understand why you'd group them all together if you couldn't understand which ones were good and which ones were bad. Like most things, there are some comments and comment threads which are useful to the people involved and some which were made with solely the poster involved, and the latter are the ones which are nonsensical to the reader, beyond realizing that their comment is just about them.

I mean, sure none of this is about learning Zen, but it is about something. If you're interested in learning Zen from the masters, you're better off slowly and carefully working through their sayings until you reach an understanding, without bringing any of your own understanding to the party. That way you can get a pure stream of understanding Zen without making it about you, and degrading what you're reading.

How much literature have you read? Do you take your time with it, slowly, carefully penetrating to the substance?

Get that perfect beat, boy

if rathskellar would read his/her reply again

Can't quote Zen Masters? Don't study Zen.

Whatever you consider yourself then has nothing to do with anything in this forum.

Read a book.

Or aren't you enlightened enough to doubt your own BS?

even though I consider myself enlightened

Where would you say you fit in in terms of this?

I let go completely

How do you not discern anything that goes on on this forum then?

What do you want to see created?

I'm gonna set you on fire.

I didn't start the fire.

Nobody cares.

No wonder you are bound to be ground into fine dust. Enjoy kaos in its true form.

Nothing, I still enjoy a stimulated mind by people's concepts and ideas. Not a bunch of crap from people who hide behind nonsensical words

Edit: the string of comments starting from yours is exactly what I'm talking about.

Enlightenment for one corner of your mind...

Is your enlightenment like that of no gates? No gates yet you got there how?

Did you take the wheels off your cart?

Ps. A lot of convos here are kind of meta, I think they would lose something of their own nature if they were written for a stage
