I have to confess something to you. I hope you're sitting down. Are you ready?

I know, right? Nuts. Anywho, I'm claiming CatFortune's R1's as my own. They're not very good, but there they are.

Let's just start off the bat with my first and shittiest one. Basically, I judgily judged a fellow for complaining about capitalism in a way that I felt reflected a casual assumption that there is a simple solution to these problems. I don't like it, but there it is.

Not good enough? Fine. I'll give you my third world labor post. Someone posted some tag about third world child labor and I linked Krugdealer's article on the topic. I realized midway through that the tag was dealing with child labor specifically when I was prepared to talk about third world labor generally, as you can see. Everyone yelled at me and I had a bad time. But if it ends up helping me post in the silver thread, maybe it will have been worth it.

I bet you thought that's all I had to offer. I bet you thought I'd come in with these two pieces of shit R1s and say "gimme sticky." Well I've got something for you. The crown jewel of my R1 past. Catfortune v CatFortune: Dawn of BadEcon. It may seem like a silly thread, but in all honesty, I think it's pretty unique that I took my own BadEcon/BadEverything and R1'd myself. I think it was a good post.

I hope you've spotted a theme here, namely, that I stress self-doubt, even in myself, in the face easy solutions to central problems in economy and politics. In my BadEcon days, I wrote this place off, but the igneous rocks analogy in the sidebar stuck with me. It helped me realize that maybe I should respect other people's academic knowledge in the face of my no-knowledge. So all of my R1s are about people who assume things about something they don't know about, and the complex and often counterintuitive realities they overlook. If I had to do another R1 because these weren't good enough, it would follow this theme. But I hope I wouldn't have to do that.
