This should be super useful for a few people here.

As always, you can still report someone who is harassing you to mods (or admins), but we as mods can't do anything at all about it when it comes in the form of a private message, or from another subreddit. (We can ban the user sure, but that does nothing to stop them.)

This new feature means that you no longer have to put up with it. Awesome.

Well, it means you don't have to read their harassment of you on other subs. If someone posts about you on the r/XPeopleHateOfTheWeek sub though admins still have to take care of it.

It is an improvement from the old setup though

It's not a replacement for getting rid of these people, it just means you don't have to have notifications about their crap while you're waiting for something to be done, and you don't have to put up with it if nothing else gets / can be done.

Well that's the consequence of making (intentionally?) vague and ambiguous statements, people read between the lines and hear what you (probably) meant to say. It's being presented as a fix for "a few people here" so they "no longer have to put up with it". I'm guessing I'm one of a "few people", and "it" is /r/drama trolls here and in /r/drama being their shitty bro selves.

First of all, the ignore feature CAN'T protect someone from concerted efforts to harrass on Reddit. But also this new paradigm you're proposing would conveniently absolve you of any sense of responsibility as the collective issues have been re-framed as individual issues. "Tired of the shitty liberals and reactionaries that are allowed to participate here and in their hate sub? Well shut the fuck up and ignore them, it's all on you now." But indeed it is not an individual issue no matter how much you wish it so, and inaction is just as bad as bad actions (of which you've done both while abusing your position as top mod).

No, but it does a much better job of it than the old ignore feature, or even any of the moderation tools we currently have.

This is the imaginary stuff I was referring to. I'm not proposing anything. I'm saying "hey, look, reddit added a new tool that is better than the tools we had before".

This is why I think you're a troll, it's so far from what I said that I assume it must be a deliberate misunderstanding. It's hard to believe that somebody can continually so totally misconstrue everything I say unless they're doing it on purpose. Even the most innocuous of statements.

I haven't been in here for ages, I saw this tool in /r/mod and thought, "oh gee, there's a few people in /r/meta who could use this". There's nothing more to it than that.

I tried to talk with you a lot of times a while back and you just ignored me whenever I tried to engage constructively with you. This makes it seem like you're only interested in trolling.

Well that part is totally true, I just didn't see the relevance.

We know that's already a problem, reddit doesn't have sufficient controls for mods (or seemingly for the admins either) to control concerted attempts to spam or harass. It's not just this feature that doesn't do it, we as mods are incapable of doing so, and it seems the admins are too.

I don't have an answer to that, this is just an unexpected step in the right direction.
