We want to expand our presence in the community and offer even more educational art pieces!
About this project
We are a husband and wife team who started Lynx Art Collection in 2012 with a pipe dream of making and selling artwork for a living. To our astonishment, our first pieces went viral and we knew we were onto something.
Over the years we've grown significantly and have expanded our lineup. In mid 2015 we wanted to focus more on the Science aspect of things. We wanted to educate others all the while educating ourselves. Thus, we opened ScienceHype.com
The love for Science and Space art continued to grow as we created more and more educational pieces.
We partnered with new artists to bring Typography and Exploded View pieces to our collection.
We've been featured in All About Space Magazine, Nerdist, on Daily Mail, and other websites. You'll find our art often goes viral on Reddit.com and is offered for sale on some great websites like Art.com and Space.com
"If I back your project, how will you succeed?"
We've built a loyal customer base and have seen numerous praise for our works over the years.
In business for four years.
We've established some very strong connections with publishers and marketplaces
Customers love our work.
Museums love our work, too.
So what are we going to work on next?
Today, we feel there is still a large gap in the educational art field. We want to produce more pieces that can cater to museums, teachers, students, and even people like us, who aren't directly involved in the teaching field.
We want to create a new Authors series and create inspirational artwork for some of the world's most beloved Authors (Mark Twain anyone?) We want to build on our exploded views series; Math teachers tell us that they love technical breakdowns and that their students do, too. And what better way to learn than by looking at something you think is awesome? We want this to include military vehicles, government vehicles, and even things like car engines. What makes an engine work? What powers an Apollo rocket? Let's take a look with an exploded view.
We want to bring on new artists and new designers. We want to continue our Science themes and create more typography pieces for other great Scientists and Discoverers.
We want to make art for Physics. We want to make art for Chemistry. If it educates and inspires, we want it on our list.
We want to work on a new series detailing incredible, rarely seen, first-person views; as artwork. Think the command module re-entering Earth's atmosphere or the view from the cockpit of the Lunar Lander.
Why?
Learning is powerful. Learning is enlightening. We've learned so much just by creating our current poster lineup. And when a school contacts us and wants to showcase our art, we happily donate, because hearing the rave responses from both the teachers and students is simply awe-inspiring. We're educating by designing, and that's what we love doing!
Chenango Forks High School out of New York recently offered our artwork for their fundraiser. Keith Rosko, the Fine Arts Department Chairperson, had this to say:
"Your posters were hugely popular with our students - thanks so much for helping us out and supporting the students at Chenango Forks! They were by far the most sought after prizes all month."
-
We've sparked something that has people genuinely interested in seeing more.
We have some fairly large blogs and media hubs interested in our work.
Nerdist wrote about us again in Press Article 2
Vox.com gave it a go, too
We even had our art featured in All About Space magazine, Issue 41
So what will your backing do?
- Hire new designers
- Create new art pieces
- Expansion of our office including new storage equipment and a new printer to handle the art expansion
We have more dreams. Our stretch goals and ultimate aspirations:
Raise $50,000
If we raise $50,000, we'll be putting together a technical specification, exploded view/cross section book. Imagine all of our new exploded view pieces in an 11"x17" book!
Raise $500,000
Our ultimate dream - opening an educational museum in Saint Augustine, Florida.
We're based in St Augustine, the nation's oldest city. St. Augustine is loaded with tourists, fun shops, and unique places to visit like Fort Castillo or the Pirate Museum. If we raised $500,000, we would establish the North Florida Museum of Education, a place for both children and adults to learn through experience. Exhibits would fill the museum alongside our numerous pieces of educational art. A gift shop on premise would grant us the opportunity to offer our pieces for sale directly to the customer in a physical location.
Thank you for reading. We hope you'll help us achieve these goals!
Risks and challenges
There's always the event that new artwork isn't as popular as we had hoped. But seeing as we're already in contact with the community we are building these new pieces for, we highly doubt our new art would not be a success!
