The issue was that this revamp is the latest in a long string of what a lot of gamers consider SJW attacks on gaming. The fear is that games will start coming out with censored content for fear of SJW backlash. A vast majority of gamers want to play the game the creative team wanted to make and not a softball version fit for all-inclusive SJW critics. Games are works of art, after all. The Tracer thing mad people angry because literally one person complained and Blizzard changed her. People saw it as setting a bad precedent for the integrity of the rest of the game's much-beloved content.
