Same team as the last two matches, maybe with Herrera coming in for Carrick, or Mata at 10. But I have a feeling we might see Fellaini.

Edit: CBJ or The Fosu in for Rojo as well.

I agree with leaving Rojo and Carrick out, both have been in poor form imo. Would also like to see more of TFM

Wouldn't call Carrick's form poor. He had a poor game against Everton, but was great against City. I'd actually like to see a midfield three of Schneiderlin-Carrick-Herrera. Don't think Schneiderlin-Herrera-Mata would fare well against Dier-Dembele-Alli.

I don't think he's offered much going forward and has had a tendency to misplace passes which I think Tottenham could capitalize on. I think Schneiderlin-Herrera-Mata would do quite well against Dier-Dembele-Alli. I think Schneiderlin could shut down Alli with Herrera helping along with tracking some of Dembele's runs + getting forward in attack. Then I would give Mata a free role to win the battle against Dier.

Carrick's a better passer than both Schneiderlin and Herrera. One poor game doesn't change that fact.

Drop Carrick and Rojo for Herrera and TFM.

De gea - Darmian Smalling Blind CBJ - Schneiderlin Herrera - Lingard - Martial Rashford Memphis.

I'd like to try that out.

Schneiderlin and Herrera seem to normally play well together, more movement and more desire to go get the ball back rather than wait for it. I do think Rojo can be a good player but as he showed against Everton he has that 'Heinze'ness in him as well so I would like to CBJ again

[–]nrshakyaRooney 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I don't remember much of him. What is Heinzeness?

St - Martial

LW - Memphis

AM - Fellaini

RW - Lingard

CM - Schneiderlin

CM - Herrera

LB - Rojo

CB - Blind

CB - Smalling

RB - Darmian

We won't out posses them, they play a very high intensity game and won't give our players half a second on the ball. For this reason, Carrick and Mata are pretty surplus to the team. Herrera isn't great defensively but he works hard and draws fouls breaking the flow of play, just like Schneiderlin. This is what really broke Spurs against Arsenal, they played a brilliant first 30 minutes but Arsenal managed to slow the game right down and as a result, Spurs looked less effective. Spurs have some good players in the air and our team lacks tall players, Fellaini was born to defend corners and nick cheap goals from set pieces. He may not have the technical ability but can physically compete with Dier, Mata cannot. All round, he offers a little more defensively than Mata. I feel our best bet of beating Spurs is on the counter or nicking a goal from a set piece, I'd be very surprised if we went to outplay them and won.

A draw wouldn't be a terrible result though. We'll have a chance to catch City up later on but for me, this is our hardest game left.

I definitely agree with you about not trying to outplay them. But then counter attacking with Fellaini wouldn't be the smartest or the fastest option right? Also with Mata...he is probably the best forward passer we have in our team at the moment. He too might not be pacy but at least his pass accuracy is better than Fellaini and ultimately its the ball that should cover the distance into the goal and not the player.

The most prime example for this is that probably the best two counter attacking goals we have scored this season..One against Stoke at home by Martial and one against Everton in the last game..both had Mata in it.

Also in Smalling, TFM, Schneiderlin..i think we our OK in height department.

I think we should stick to the team that finished the game against Everton with the only change being Blind in CB and TFM at RB

The issue is that Mata thrives on time and space (insert Dr.Who joke here) and he won't be given any of that. Fellaini isn't a massive asset going forward but under the circumstances, neither is Mata. What Fellaini is great for however is bringing the ball down which allows us to play the long ball if we want to. TFM would be a decent addition, play him in CM and Herrera a little further forward and I think you have a solid defensive cushion which is a little less static and more creative going forward. I guess its just a case of experience. Is TFM disciplined enough to be starting against arguably the best side we've played all season?

We have to start Herrera to have any chance of winning that midfield battle. Carrick, Schneiderlin and Mata is not good enough to match Dembele-Dier-Alli trio.

We have to overload the midfield in this game. Otherwise we wont win.

What is this "counterattacking" you speak of?

[–]An0therk 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Is young back to full fitness? I can't really see him starting with no first team football in months.. and Valencia definitely won't be starting either.

I'd say the team could be..

     Martial Rashford Lingaard

                Mata

     Schneiderlin Carrick

    Rojo Blind Smalling Darmian

                 DDG

I want to see Rooney back and leading if he is healthy, if not Lingard.

------------------- Rashford ---------------

Martial (or Memphis) --- Rooney --- Mata

-------- Schneiderlin ---- Herrera ---------

Darmian --- Blind ----- Smalling ----- TFM

------------------- De Gea ----------------

[–]DYT2UCRooney[S] 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I really debated putting Rooney over Rashford. Rashford has been playing well, but for some reason I feel like Rooney is going to come back from injury and bang in goals for the remainder of the season. I can dream.

4-3-3:

Martial-------- Rooney ------ Rashford

------Depay----------------Mata------

------------- Schneiderlin -------------

CBJ --- Blind ----- Smalling ----- TFM

---------------- De Gea ----------------

Depending on how the game runs and if we are winning, I would change formation if and swap Mata for Herrera and Martial/Depay for Carrick.

------- Rooney ---- Rashford -------

--- Depay ------------------- Herrera

-------- Schneiderlin -- Carrick -----

CBJ ---- Blind ---- Smalling ---- TFM

--------------- DDG ------------------

[–]shabadu84 0ポイント1ポイント  (3子コメント)

A midfield of basically just Schneiderlin would get destroyed

[–]House_Of_LannisterLVG 0ポイント1ポイント  (2子コメント)

Well, he's got Depay and Mata with him for that. Also, why say that? And I know this is not quite the same but Busquets does a marvelous job every week in CDM on his own.

[–]Noxu777 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

depay and mata as cms?

...

[–]House_Of_LannisterLVG 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

who said that? who implied that?

[–]azogthorinThere's only one Darren Fletcher -1ポイント0ポイント  (1子コメント)

Wtf is that first team? Two left wingers, two right wingers, one midfielder and one striker?

[–]House_Of_LannisterLVG 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's what I would play. That was the question wasn't it? I don't see your teamsheet on these comments.
