As an English major, seeing all this Japanese text is disgusting. You should never rely on your native language when learning another.My country has a lot of Japanese families that come here for a few years because their parents work at the local car business and I teach their children English. We do just fine with 100% English material and communication (my Japanese is very basic too so I couldn't rely on that even if I wanted to) and I notice the severe pronunciation problems that they have because they are used to translating everything to kana. It's terrible, the regular non Japanese students that I have don't have half the issues that they do.
