Travel to manchester (self.reddevils)

Hi guys I'm thinking of travelling to England to catch Manchester united games. I am actually from Singapore so the travel expenses including hotel to Manchester from Singapore is around SGD1000(on Expedia) does anyone have any suggestions as to other easier ways? Idk abt other modes of transportation in Europe. Perhaps some of you guys know how to lower my cost of travelling even though it is by a few hundred dollars, if possible

If you just have general queries about this, you'd be better severed asking these questions over at /r/manchester.

Edit: It'll try and be a bit more helpful. Avoid the taxis, take the trains if have to travel some distance. Alternatively, depending on when you'll be coming you can even decide to explore the city on foot, but remember to bring a raincoat/coat. Use the tram to get around Manchester, get a weekend tram pass, it'll save you a bit of money. That being said, can I ask when do you plan on traveling?

I don't know about flights and such but check the difference between Manchester and London airports. It may be cheaper to go to London.

If it is there is a good train link between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly which takes about 2 hours. Though this is about 40-80 pounds depending on when you book it.

You could get a coach (National Express, Megabus, etc) which is a lot cheaper but can take 4-7 hours depending on traffic and such.

I'm not sure of your options in Singapore, but one way I've financed travel is through credit card rewards. Nearly every major airline has its own credit card that offers some number of miles/points if you spend a certain amount within the first few months (e.g. British Airways Visa card). Even if it doesn't completely cover your airfare costs, it could take out a sizable chunk. Just a suggestion - good luck!
