MeleeEsam did not participate in Pound2016 Melee (self.smashbros)

Considering how it's almost a given that he's going to be at Smash Summit 2, I thinkit's a very odd choice not to have participated at Pound 2016.
Are there any Infos as to why he did not want to participate?
edit: He got 9th for Smash 4

He said he hasn't been doing well in sm4sh lately and that's where he gets most of his money. He decided to only enter sm4sh so he could give it his full attention.

He probably sets the standards for himself very highly, and considering Zero wasnt there probably wanted to win.

9th is exceptional, but it's all about perspective.

The schedule was already very taxing for him, and ESAM wanted to focus on Smash 4 here with ZeRo out of the picture. He's definitely making an effort to incorporate melee on his stream.

So? Shroomed and Armada are DEFINITELY going to Smash Summit 2 and they didn't enter. You don't have to enter every tournament all the time, especially if you are putting serious time in another game already (Smash 4 had a nutty schedule). A better question is why are you so desperate to keep Esam out of smash summit?

Dude, calm down. Shroomed and Armada didn't enter Melee because they didn't show up to the tournament. ESAM didn't enter Melee because he's more focused on another Smash game. Yes, the schedule was nutty, but that didn't stop Wizzrobe and SmashG0D from competing in both games.

I know they weren't there. 'Being busy' is the same excuse all around. People are just using literally anything to speak out against Esam and it's making the community look ugly. I've never liked Smash 4 and I've loved melee for years but I'm just really disliking how people are acting over this.

"Being busy" isn't the issue. For the time being, most smashers have to balance their real lives with smash, and everyone is ok with that. Even Amrada, a sponsored player who makes a living off this game, sometimes needs some personal time, and no one gives him shit for it.

Esam's case is completely different. Clearly, Esam didn't have something else to do that weekend, he was at the tournament. Entering Melee singles would have been incredibly easy for him in comparison to Shroomed or Armada, but he still didn't do it. This suggests that Esam isn't that serious about Melee. I'm not gonna make any statement on whether Esam "deserves" to be at the Summit or whatever, but this argument by itself seems pretty clear.
