I don't know what happened, but the right to self defense includes defending yourself from cops who threaten your life without justification. Of course, it is almost impossible to prove self-defense in any cop related shooting. The department always closes ranks around dead or injured cops and could care less about whether a citizen was justified in shooting a cop. My sympathy for the injured cop, like anyone in these situations, will depend entirely on the circumstances of the shooting.

I'm starting to think you might not really be a Texas Ranger. Call it a hunch.

I'm sure he was eating with his family and just decided it was a good time for a shootout.

This is the sort of thing you bring up after it becomes at least somewhat clear the officer acted less like an officer and more like a criminal.

There's no indication of that, so try to show a little sympathy for the time being. ffs.

Hey dickweed, did you read the article? Moreover, there's zero "right" to shoot at cops if you're not LICENSED to carry. Dumb fuck.

The problem is people think they need to resolve everything right then and there with the cops. No, do what the fuck the cop tells you and fight him later if you want to sue and get him fired. 99/100 times arguing with the cop on scene or refusing and taking action against what the cop says is going to land you in trouble. I'm not saying refusing to do what a cop requests or using your free speech, but if a cop is going to do an illegal search, why are you going to fight him there? It's just going to get thrown out in court and you can sue him or get him fired. If a cop tells you to put the knife down, put the fucking knife down or you risk getting shot. If you run at police when you are naked and holding something in your hand, expect bad shit to happen. Even if you just have a cellphone, if the cop says drop it, drop it and argue with them later. People have rights but you don't need to exercise them immediately in order to retain those rights, you're just going to escalate the situation.
