you may got 1,000 different languages (by virtue of age, and another time when distances appeared larger), but the actual diversity isnt that great

all europeans are basically liberal and vote liberal

america has got both a south and a north with VERY different polital views

the only way europe can match that sort of diversity is to combine west and east europe

imagine if EU had to have RUSSIA - you guys would have a civil war too

Once again you're lumping 50 completely different countries and trying to group them for some reason.

america has got both a south and a north with VERY different polital views

Ever heard of Catalonia vs Spain? Walonia vs Flanders? Scotland? Sardinia? North vs South in Italy? Every country has stronger divides than those in the US.

Edit: Here's a wiki of all seperatist movements: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separatism

Notice how the Europe list is 20 times longer than the US?

is spain hardcore conservative, compared to states/countries beyond them?

sure the veneer may be different, and the costume, but politically all west europeans are basically on the same page about absolutely everything - which is not true for the broader US, where politics occupy different planets

plus even that veneer of euro diversity is fading - english is becoming the lingua franca, and everyone wears the same garb now

southern europe is the equivalent of the mid-west in the US - yes, there is a noticeable difference change, but you still know youre basically in west europe

east europe is where things get weird, like crossing the mason-dixon line

You live in your own world.

AMERICANS live in their own world

why do you think america doesnt care that much about europe? and does pretty everything contrary to europe, and without regard to europe

because americans instinctively feel there is enough diversity and breadth HERE, that extending out to europe is largely pointless (america is the "new" world to europe)

a road trip across ALL 50 states in america is seen as a coming-of-age and MAJOR trip - its like a full europe trip to us

and no its not because americans are just "dumb", its that america feels genuinely satisfied in its diversity, and are fulfilled

You didnt exactly change my opinion there.

Im just spitting facts

americans view themselves as equivalent to europe (new world, compared to old world), like it or not

americans SPEAK differently and compose themselves differently

Slightly different regional accents that exist in many many every countries. Culturally they are virtually the same. You will find no more cultural differences than in any country. Of course Americans speak differently to Poles or Italians or Germans. So do Chinese and Zulu, irrelevant point is irrelevant.

Yes I get Americans view themselves as just as diverse and whatnot as Europe but the real fact is, they are not.

its not regional accents Im talking about here

american accents ---------------- european accents over here

there is a distinct DIFFERENCE - europe and america are different worlds

black people in europe speak DIFFERENT than black people in the US (they sound bizarrely hoity toity to us) - the difference between europe and america are clearly evident - we dont do the same things

america is self-contained, in terms of political diversity (which is a different kind of diversity than cultural, which you dont recognize) only west europe to east europe have the same leap, as north to south in the US

You live in your own world, Im not talking about New vs Old Im talking about the little bubble that surrounds you. Seriously.

Im not saying America is the same as Europe, Im saying the regional differences in America are not as great as you think they are and regional differences in Europe are far far greater than you think.

What do you mean I dont understand political diversity? lol. That statement is just plain bizarre.

You will never be diverse, i'm sorry.

again, "diversity" takes many forms

america is a young country, built with newer tech, and has been fortunate enough to be unified enough (with great fractious difficulty) to maintain a common-language

but besides THAT kind of diversity, there is also a kind of diversity in america that you can only see if you go from west europe to east europe

americans as a whole are different than europeans - americans SPEAK differently (and have unique accents), americans BEHAVE differently - we are our own planet, just as much as europe is - which is why europe and america dont always see eye to eye on things

UK has more accents than the US alone...and I don't even know about other European languages because I only speak English. Probably even more accents than both (pretty sure Italian has heeaaaps).

but american accents are strictly AMERICAN

if you hear a european accent, you instantly can tell, yes, thats a euro - but if you hear a bostom accent, or you hear a alabaman accent, you dont think "could that be european?" - NO, it can ONLY be american, even tho the accents are VERY different from each other (the cadence and tone)

its not NUMBER of accents, its the uniqueness, its the indigenousness of america and american things thats makes it clearly a separate entity from europe as a whole, and vice versa

this is why america was perfect in ww2 - because no european country viewed america as threatening to them - ALL europeans equally viewed america as a foreign alien, thus america could be the intermediary

You have never been to europe? There is a huge difference between southern germany and northern germany and even ersten germany. You go from conservative to liberal to right wing

you are all liberal to me, and politically similar (on average)

only west to east do I REALLY notice a difference

west europe is like "refugees welcome", and east europe is like "hell no"

This comment is stupid as fuck. Germany is not a liberal unit.

I know you're trying to see the US as a diverse country but to put it simply, it's just not. It's a new country without much history.

english is becoming the lingua franca, and everyone wears the same garb now

As a 2nd language, like every other country in the world. No sure what you're trying to say here.

southern europe is the equivalent of the mid-west in the US - yes, there is a noticeable difference change, but you still know youre basically in west europe

Cmon dude..

spain is liberal, as is southern europe

ALL of west europe is liberal - theyre the "north" for the US

you think liberal think is OBVIOUS, but go to east europe, and all your western-euro liberal ideals arent perceived so obvious over there

thats the REAL change-over

its not simply languages that distinguishes west europe from east europe (which is huge), its POLITICS - which is a diversity america shares

diversity can take many colors - it can be politics, it can be racial, and it can be cultural - and in terms of politics and race, america is as diverse (infact america is MORE diverse, on the racial level - europe is only recently catching up)
