Come on dude, I get that you've swallowed the pill and see the world through a different lens now but can we not reduce 1984 to BP/RP and sexual strategy. The book is a masterpiece and its message has nothing to do with RP/BP and pussy, it's way deeper and scarier than that.

[–]vissil 6ポイント7ポイント  (1子コメント)

it's way...scarier than that.

That sounds like a good way to describe it. I remember when I first read TRP I felt anger, but when I digested 1984 the main emotion I tied with it was fear.

I think there's a bunch of stuff in there that I didn't understand. And that as I age, more of it will make sense. Orwell did a really good job of describing control in every large human society that has existed (and likely will exist).

One phrase that people say is that you should "do it for the children." That's nonsense. People actively try to destroy the minds of children.

It's also a book that exaggerates these fears into full-blown paranoia.

I think the book was necessary for some people, but people take that book way too seriously. They try to find examples of it everywhere, but don't seem to realize reality is much much much more scarier than the book in places like North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc.

None of it is new or revolutionary except at the time it was written, anyone living through the Cold War should realize that the Soviet empire was just as bad and dystopian.

My bet is that as the cold war dragged on, the popularity of the book went down, but after the Soviets collapsed, the popularity of the book has increased, because people reading the book have never seen the real oppression of fascistic, communistic, and authoritarian regimes. You also don't need cameras to accomplish a spy network for millions of informants.

It's just easier for them to read a fiction book called 1984, then actually picking up history books and reading through real life oppression.

Literally my first sentence in the body was that 1984 is a fantastic novel outside of the trp realm. I think there are some general nuggets we can all take away from it

Your title however and summary however...

Not going to argue semantics, just wanted to say something as this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've see 1984 posted here as "RP text". Well, it's not.

Listen here new_cummer, you're reducing trp to just another pua forum, trp is not only about bettering yourself, but it's also relevantly about psychology and social norms as well as a few teachings here and there about leaders and followers. You can find theories, behaviours, ideas of trp in almost any story or book.

You need to read the side bar mister.

They haven't taken the full red pill yet. Only the pussy part. Forgive them their ignorance. They just do not know.

And here we have the self proclaimed guru of TRP who has unlocked all the secrets to life and is ... chilling on Reddit.

Your attitude sucks man.

It's a good book. To be honest I'd say A Brave New World is the more accurate one, though it's possible we'd have to go through that to get to 1984.

ABNW has Soma, the drug that distracts people, currently drug acceptance and usage is far more mainstream than ever and Marijuana legalization is already well under way. It also talks about woman sleeping with everyone they want as they are shared, which with our current sexuality climate is quite telling, though women are far more manipulative and men far more unaware overall as it's not accepted as in our world yet. Also orgy parties. Moreover people are bred and raised with certain traits and brainwashed into behaving in their roles in society, whish isn't unlike the BP conditioning we speak of here via media and social and SJWs and all that. Then the main character being disgusted by it all and trying to live with discipline.

I could go on but Ive made my point.

I remember I used to be disgusted with the main character for trying to live a virtuous life, and that was six years ago. Now I'm afraid because the world looks brave and new.

SoMa is where ad-tech now lives, and your attention is what they want. There's a machine built around capturing, holding, and monetizing it. The new gold rush.

Edit: Interestingly, in 1984 terms of tech candy land: inner party = VC / Suites. Outer party = rank and file tech/sales/etc. Prole = consumers.

Coming Up For Air is, IMO, a much better book and more relevant to RP. Try this exerpt:

Well, Hilda and I were married, and right from the start it was a flop. Why did you marry her? you say. But why did you marry yours? These things happen to us. I wonder whether you’ll believe that during the first two or three years I had serious thoughts of killing Hilda. Of course in practice one never does these things, they’re only a kind of fantasy that one enjoys thinking about. Besides, chaps who murder their wives always get copped. However cleverly you’ve faked the alibi, they know perfectly well that it’s you who did it, and they’ll pin it on to you somehow. When a woman’s bumped off, her husband is always the first suspect – which gives you a little side-glimpse of what people really think about marriage.

One gets used to everything in time. After a year or two I stopped wanting to kill her and started wondering about her. Just wondering. For hours, sometimes, on Sunday afternoons or in the evenings when I’ve come home from work, I’ve lain on my bed with all my clothes on except my shoes, wondering about women. Why they’re like that, how they get like that, whether they’re doing it on purpose. It seems to be a most frightful thing the suddenness with which some women go to pieces after they’re married. It’s as if they were strung up to do just that one thing, and the instant they’ve done it they wither off like a flower that’s set its seed. What really gets me down is the dreary attitude towards life that it implies. If marriage was just an open swindle – if the woman trapped you into it and then turned around and said, ‘Now, you bastard, I’ve caught you and you’re going to work for me while I have a good time!’ I wouldn’t mind so much. But not a bit of it. They don’t want to have a good time, they merely want to slump into middle age as quickly as possible.

Oh man I used to dream about killing my wife. Even daydreaming plans about it while living my horrible life as a mule. I could tell you exactly how I would have done it, and not got caught. I mean the poor girl suicided and poor me was there alone.

Divorce is the closest thing I'll get to that fantasy. Ahh to think. How awesome marriage is. Get to fantasize about killing your wife. Lol. Oh man is life better now.

Don't get married!!!!

You should mention it is also by Orwell. I didn't know about this book, but will definitely read.

For anyone else interested, it is freely available here:

This is the second time I've seen the above paragraphs used on TRP Reddit. I'm definitely gonna have to take a look at this book.

They don’t want to have a good time, they merely want to slump into middle age as quickly as possible.

That is the best single line description of my ex-wife that I have ever read. She was proudly complaining about having "crow's feet" at the ripe old age of 29.

While we're at it, if you liked 1984, I'd recommend 'The Glass Bees' by Ernst Junger.

Some movies with RP wisdom:

Fightclub, American Beauty and limitless

Shoutout for Animal Farm: "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."

You can't read that line and not think of feminism+sjws

TL;DR: Read 1984. You'll take away some trp knowledge, and reinforce that once you go trp, you can never go back.

Uh, you did get to the end of the book, right?
