So the deal with HCL says that they're 'digital transformation' partners or something. I work in digital and 'digital transformation' is basically the idea of one company teaching another company how to 'transform' their business into a digital one.

What this probably means is that people at HCL are working with MUFC to teach them how to run the website according to modern standards - rather than HCL acting as an agency to redevelop the website themselves. E-consultancy are a big company who do this. If I had guess I'd say that HCL are redeveloping the website but teaching MUFC how to update it and manage it themselves in-house.

Can't they just hire full time web developers who are already aware of the modern technologies of webdev?

They could but that's not really the point. I guess that the idea is that HCL will train existing MUFC marketing employees on how to do pretty basic website tasks (ie. adding a press release or a news story to the site, which is pretty basic stuff within a CMS). It would be wasteful to pay extra developers to sit around doing menial tasks like this.

I mean surely they already know how do the basics, It can't be much different than their existing site when it comes to adding articles.

I am suprised that we are so far behind when it comes to our digital footprint as a club in comparison to City who have a great deal going on.

I didn't realize that HCL are most likely upskilling existing staff. I would of thought if that was the case they wouldn't have their name on the website, or perhaps they have handed over management of the website to HCL.

Either way I hope that we start getting content, I mean I would love to see people like Cheekysport or Fulltime devils get better access and utilize some of their more sponsor friendly content.

Or even just hire people with similar skills to get relateable content from the club, It really feels United are missing a trick with it currently.
