He's purely self-focused, to put it politely. That's all there is to it, and it means he cannot value people beyond himself or how the experiences of others affect him directly.

I know it's hard to work through this, but I'm glad to see you're making an effort, and no, I'm not being sarcastic. Personal growth is incredibly important, and that will not come if you're selfish. It literally can't when you cannot see why you should grow, let alone how or where.

Actually, yes. Immaturity and intolerance should not be accepted.

Why does it have to be about you? Empathy is specifically about understanding the experiences of those with whom you share no personal connection.

Either way, these are all examples of slippery slope arguments and you shouldn't use them.

"Your family" is an extension of "you" and your personal identity. Caring about your loved ones is a bare minimum standard and not something you're going to be praised for.

People are free to sub or unsub as they see fit, but the fact that he couldn't relate to those issues makes the point about a lack of empathy very clear; TrollX explains their positions on various topics all the time, and if one does not understand after something has been explained multiple times, it's because they either don't want to or aren't trying. Turns out the speaker is in fact terribly self-centered, which not only proves the point I made. That he himself is whining and acting butthurt reinforces this: that guy is a fool, and he doesn't need you to defend him.
