This is embarrassing. This questionnaire is a great source to point why the Republican party has alienated such a large base. I can be conservative, I can have right wing views, I can support small government and want to talk about real issues without believing in half of this.

This is an embarrassing day for conservatism. Unbelievable. Also let's be honest the only question you guys care about is 3 and if the answer isn't Ted Cruz people aren't getting in.

Whoever wrote this test is a joke.

Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

I believe in only one theory - America first

Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

Could be anthropogenic or could be natural. Research is not definitive.

Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

Donald Trump. In a democracy, your loyalty should be towards the citizens first not your donors. Upholding democratic values is the hall mark of a true conservative.

Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.

Yes. There is a difference between the regressive left and liberalism

Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion?

None of the options. Abortion should be legal in the first trimester and after that it should be illegal.

What do you think the phrase "the right to bear arms" means?

A. Constitutional right put in place by the founders to avoid a tyrannical government

Which of the following is closest to your position on illegal immigration?

A. Build a wall. Walls work. In fact, Reagan wanted to build one.

What is this section of the Constitution commonly called? Article I, Section 8, Clause 3: [The Congress shall have Power] To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

The commerce clause

What's the missing word? "National ______ German Workers' Party"

Socialist

Does the government create jobs? Yes or no.

Nope. Private sector does. That is why we need someone with private sector experience and not a political hack.

What's the missing word? "In _____ we trust."

God? Wenger?

If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

2nd amendment should be respected.

A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Meh. I don't trust Israel.

I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes.

I hope I get in. I support Trump but I am a true conservative.

(1. Yes. The left overplays the false narrative that the Southern Strategy is racist.

(2. It's quite simple really, we've gone through a Medieval Warm Period and a Little Ice Age, and the notion that the earth is being warmed by men is complete bogus. Right now, we're still recovering from the Little Ice Age at a fairly rapid pace. TLDR: An increase in global temperatures is natural, and leftist fearmongering is unfounded.

(3. Cruz and Kasich. I know Kasich may be considered a RINO by many, but I do think he adheres to many conservative values, such as being Pro Life and very pro free market. Cruz is a no brainer, hes conservative.

(4. Yes. Most patriots are conservative, but a small handful adhere to some liberal values.

Well, I might as well have some fun with this...

  1. Yes. It doesn't mean conservatives are racist (they're not). All it means is that the GOP is now the more Conservative party.

  2. Ample scientific evidence supporting the existence of climate change.

  3. Don't agree with him, but Cruz.

  4. Absolutely. Patriotism doesn't know party ideology.

  5. I can't even answer such a loaded question.

  6. ^

  7. D and C later.

  8. Commerce Clause

  9. Socialist. I know what you're trying to prove here, but you kind of missed the point by a mile.

  10. Loaded question again. Actually it isn't, but you seem to be expecting a loaded answer. FYI, that answer is yes.

  11. God. Doesn't mean anything (not the quote, but the answer).

  12. VERY loaded question. Yes, guns should be somewhat restricted (far from totally), yes police sometimes abuse their power, and yes, they should be armed.

  13. Of course.

  14. Yes, in religion class, not science.

[–]Richard_Bolitho 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

  1. If you're asking if it's ok to use racism to attract Southern votes then no. If you're asking whether this was a historical reality then I definitely don't believe in the "top-down" theory. There may be some amount of truth to the bottom-up version but it is certainly overplayed by those on the left.

  2. I believe climate fluctuations are due to natural causes. I'm open to proof that it is man-made but so far none has been found. Even if it was man made I see no proof that it will destroy the earth and therefore we should wreck our economy to fix it.

  3. Only Ted Cruz.

  4. Liberal Yes, Progressive no.

  5. A

  6. D. A right branching from our God-given right to defend our life liberty and property.

  7. Increase border security. Deport illegal aliens when found, fine employers caught employing illegal aliens, revamp legal immigration system to make it more efficient.

  10. The government can create jobs. They're generally inefficient at doing so and can often times do more harm than good.

  11. God

  12. N/A

  13. Yes

  14. No but neither does creation theory. We should probably be more worried that most students don't know what photosynthesis or the ideal gas law is.

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? No

  2. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?" I do not know enough about climate science to explain the causes of temperature fluctuations but if the last 15 years have shown us anything it is that climate scientists cannot accurately predict the climate as their models have been dramatically off. Moreover, even if you did accept conventional climate science, America reducing emissions will have almost absolutely no effect on future warming.

(1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

No.

(2. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

Largely natural causes. Perhaps some influence by man, but relatively insignificant. Irrelevant to governments regardless. If "green" business wants to market the crap out of itself and go kick ass in the free market - awesome. I don't need the California Air Resources Board killing jobs and stunting economic growth so they can line the pockets of bureaucrats and feel smug about themselves. My little suburb in SoCal making its own environmental policies (which the losers on city council actually do) isn't going to save the planet. Stop your bullshit virtue signaling.

(3. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

Ted Cruz - I'm voting for him in the CA primary. Have gotten several friends enthusiastic about supporting Cruz. If we're going to have a Republican President for Leftists to complain and make fun of - might as well have an actual Conservative in there. Plus Ted is amazing on my two biggest issues: Taxes (Art Laffer wrote his plan and he is the fucking man) & Foreign Policy.

(4. Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.

Yes. Liberals believe in personal liberty and a small government dedicated only to protecting Life, Liberty, and Property. There are no Liberals in the Democrat Party. Only Leftists. Leftists may call themselves "Liberal," but they're lying to themselves and everyone else.

(5. Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion?

A. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human.

(6. What do you think the phrase "the right to bear arms" means?

A. A Constitutional right put in place by the founders to avoid a tyrannical government

(7. Which of the following is closest to your position on illegal immigration?

D. Grant them legal status, but not citizenship. Only after securing the border, establishing mandatory e-verify, and an entry/exit tracking system.

(8. What is this section of the Constitution commonly called? Article I, Section 8, Clause 3: [The Congress shall have Power] To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

Commerce Clause

(9. What's the missing word? "National ______ German Workers' Party"

(10. Does the government create jobs? Yes or no.

Lol. No.

(11. What's the missing word? "In _____ we trust."

G-d.

(12. If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

You have to be highly educated to comprehend such a stupid statement. I only attended a State school.

(13. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Yes. Israel, like America, is a beacon of light on this planet and she is a critical ally on the front lines of the war on Radical Islamic Terrorism. Israel's accomplishments in its short history stand as a shining example of capitalism, strong defense, strong values, and patriotism.

(14. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes. If we are going to have public schools the education should be secular. It should be the parents' responsibility to seek out religious education through church. Kids will benefit from learning multiple views and theories and learn to make critical judgments on their own. It is certainly possible to believe in G-d and evolution.

  1. No. That's under the assumption that by "valid" you mean effective in present times. The question is not clear to me.
  2. I don't. It's not my job to explain them, nor do I hold science as a set body of knowledge, particularly regarding past events; it's a means of providing operations to allow mankind to achieve desired outcomes. We often find better ways, but their present usefulness isn't predicated upon them being or explaining True history.
  3. Cruz, if any.
  4. Yes. Someone who is liberal in every sense, especially of the "progressive" variety, likely couldn't be since it's hard to claim you love a country which you want to change in every respect, but I wouldn't deny the possibility of some individuals I might describe as liberal as being in some sense patriotic.
  5. A
  6. A
  7. A&F as top priorities.
  8. Commerce clause.
  9. Socialist.
  10. No. The government doesn't create wealth or jobs. And even if it could, it shouldn't try to do so as that is not its purpose.
  11. God
  12. I don't believe that, so who cares? It's a foolish consistency at best.
  13. Yes, although "strong" and "vital" are stronger language than I would choose to use.
  14. Yes. As well as Lamarckism, spontaneous generation, etc. Students need to know theories in order to critically interact with them. And evolution in the barest sense, i.e. genetic diversity, is useful. Making pseudo-scientific truth claims about Creation and the role of natural selection throughout time is not science proper and should not be done in public school classrooms.

I mostly just want to lurk, which I've been doing without an account for months. And I find this to be a strange metric for conservatism. But thanks for taking the time to read.

Just before I start, I'd like to note that I'm Australian so I'm unfamiliar with -some- of the questions. I'll do my best to google them, but obviously as a non-American some of them are things I just haven't experienced.

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

Not really. I had to Google to find out what it was, but on reading about it, it honestly doesn't seem like a strategy that Republicans have played with. I feel like the "realignment" was more about Democrats abandoning their principles rather than a conscious effort based on "Racism". Because on the face of it, the idea behind the Southern Strategy is inherently racist, and conservatism isn't racist.

  1. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

There are a multitude of different sources. Massive industrialisation increases temperatures within a city itself, activities from our Sun increase temperatures as well.

  1. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

There is only one true conservative still running, and he is Cruzing to victory.

  1. Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.

Yes, but only because Liberals have no sense of shame.

  1. Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion? A. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human. B. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human, but it's still okay for the mother to kill them. C. A fetus is a parasitic clump of cells.

A. Human life is human life, and you don't get to destroy it because it's inconvenient. The only time I support it is when not doing so would result in the death of the mother.

  1. What do you think the phrase "the right to bear arms" means? A. A Constitutional right put in place by the founders to avoid a tyrannical government B. Permission to go hunting C. Part of a living document which is commonly misunderstood so as to spread gun violence

What part of "The right to bear arms shall not be infringed" is unclear?

  1. Which of the following is closest to your position on illegal immigration? >A. Build a wall. >B. Deport them all. >C. Grant them citizenship. >D. Grant them legal status, but not citizenship. >E. If you catch one, you can keep it. >F. Fine employers of illegals to take away the incentive. >G. Close the borders and end all immigration, legal and illegal. >H. Register them as Democrats.

A, B, F, G.

  1. What is this section of the Constitution commonly called? Article I, Section 8, Clause 3: [The Congress shall have Power] To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

As an Australian, I honestly don't know.

  1. What's the missing word? "National ______ German Workers' Party"

Socialist.

  1. Does the government create jobs? Yes or no.

It creates the regulatory environment in which businesses either flourish or get crushed.

  1. What's the missing word? "In _____ we trust."

God.

  1. If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

Progressives often hold very contradictory views, and this question highlights that perfectly.

  1. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Yes and no. I don't believe that everything Israel does is necessarily in the best interests of the US. That said, they're a damn side better than their other allies in the region like Saudi Arabia and Qatar who go as far to fund the enemies of America.

  1. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes it should.

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no. Maybe, if done correctly.

  2. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?" It's pretty fluid. I think climate is dictated by how it feels on any given day. I don't think we can put climate in a box and tell it it's not being "normal" when it decides to get hotter or colder. That's just climate shaming.

  3. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?
I think if we combined all three, we might have the hero we need. Like the human centipede.

  4. Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.
    Definitely maybe.

  5. Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion?

A. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human.

B. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human, but it's still okay for the mother to kill them.

  13. Maybe. This is a massively complicated question that can't be boiled down to a single yes or no for me. The alliance is important as parter of a larger strategy in the region. While I believe engagement and support for allies who align with western values is essential to promoting our interests overseas, these alliances need to be based on our overall national interest. Currently, Israel is a strong ally who we rely on for intelligence and other assistance in the region. Though I favor MASSIVELY reducing foreign aid to all countries until we have stopped accruing additional debt, we need to keep supporting Israel in the area of defense and provide them support under the U.S. nuclear umbrella. Deterrence is the name of the game. Additionally, we should cut all support of Palestine until they remove their alliance with Hamas and to Iran until they stop funding or supporting terror in any form. Its important in the current world but not vital. I'd say that 'vital' involves anything that would measurably diminish the ability of the country to function immediately or a direct strike on U.S. soil.

11} God

12} That's almost a trick question there; of course, citizens should be able to possess firearms...why else does the 2nd Amdt. allow for an individual to keep & bear arms? Besides, if police are abusing their powers, it should be up to an alert citizenry to keep an eye on their abuses.

13} Yes; Israel is the only liberal (little l) democracy in the region and if nothing else, that's the one relationship the United States must have in the region.

14} As the son of schoolteachers, I can honestly say I'm more worried about the average student being able to read a bus schedule (or being able to read, period) than I am about whether the theory of evolution is taught in school.

This would also reduce benefits because disability payments would be reduced, and would save private sector money since they would not need to meet ADA standards if no one requires disabled access).

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

No

  1. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

I think honestly fluctuations in temperature are mostly natural and have been occurring for quite some time now. I think currently any existing temperature trend is overstated, as well as man's contribution to the emission of greenhouse gases.

  1. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

Ted Cruz

  1. Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.

Yes, though there are definitely some liberal ideals that could conflict with patriotism, not all liberals hold exclusively liberal ideals.

  1. Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion? A. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human.

B. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human, but it's still okay for the mother to kill them.

C. A fetus is a parasitic clump of cells.

A.

  1. What do you think the phrase "the right to bear arms" means? A. A Constitutional right put in place by the founders to avoid a tyrannical government

B. Permission to go hunting

C. Part of a living document which is commonly misunderstood so as to spread gun violence

A. Though I think smaller scale defense of one's self, home, and family is included as well.

B. Laws should be enforced as best as they can.

  1. If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

If I play along, I suppose they should. I mean, does this hypothetical mean all police are corrupt? Or just some? Onthe former, they're no different from some gang, and would probably get guns regardless of legality. In the latter case, the good cops out there would be able to put the guns to good use, regardless of the corrupt cops out there. It'd be worth it for them to be able to protect themselves in the line of duty so they can get home to their families safely. I think citizens should be able to own guns regardless though. And I really don't think the police are corrupt. I'll definitely save this one for later on the people I know that believe citizens shouldn't own guns and that the police are corrupt.

  1. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Yes.

  1. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes. I think the rhetoric surrounding it is more problematic than the theory itself. It's not wrong to teach where current scientific thought might lead, but it is treated as an absolute fact, and dissenters are dismissed out of hand. If it were treated more carefully in the classroom than it currently is, I don't think there'd be quite the problem there is.

I do not believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns, however if one were to believe so, and that police abused their power, then allowing them to have guns could lead to a police state as seen in Germany during the Nazi reign. Therefore, one who believes such things would say that police should not have guns, thus endangering the people and rendering the police to mall cops, rather than a proper force to keep people safe. However, allowing police to have guns is a very logical idea and regardless of what rights the people have, the police should remain an armed force.

1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

No.

2. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"**

There are several possible causes.

Blaming it on a comparatively weak "Greenhouse Gas" like CO2 just because it is man-made seems to point to an agenda of government control by deception . Water vapor and methane have much stronger greenhouse effects than CO2, but no one is trying to control them.

The complete lack of interest in solar activity as a possible source of warming is also telling.

  1. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

There have always been changes in the climate, but none so dramatic in the last century as we have pumped massive amounts of co2 and other greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. We are playing a part in climate change. The question becomes what is / is there a role for government in regulation of emissions?

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? The 1981 Lee Atwater interview is indisputable proof that it was a "strategy". That doesn't mean that it was embraced by all Republicans, though, and the validity of it actually being what happened is highly overblown.
  2. The temperature of the earth had fluctuated since the beginning of time. I don't dismiss the theory of man made climate change as a conspiracy but we must be careful to weigh any potential measures we take against economic damages as well as whether other countries that are heavy on emissions take steps to reduce the supposed damage they are doing as well.

  10. Does the government create jobs? Yes, but it shouldn't even come close to being the main force of job creation. It is not 1776 and the sheer size of this nation dictates that there are going to be some things that the government is forced to do, even though it wasn't foreseen by the framers. In these instances, we should be looking for fraud, waste, and abuse and eliminating it.
  11. God.
  12. I don't understand the wording of this question, but citizens should be armed as it is our constitutional right, and police should be armed as well. Police abuse of power should be investigated and prosecuted just like any other sort of abuse of power.

There have been many fluctuations in average climate/temp over the past few thousand years. Scientist readily admit that, but when it happens now it's our fault. I don't trust the reports of man-made climate change. This is just one in a long line of ups and downs.

The sun, mainly. Industrialization can change temperatures in an area, but not globally. Even if was caused by man, no one law can fix it so speaking about it at a policy level is useless.

  1. If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

This highlights how scary it is when the government are the only people with guns.

  1. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Yes. They're one of the only stable countries in an unstable area.

  1. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes. As long as their honest with themselves about how the universe began. No one knows for certain where the chemicals came from to cause the Big Bang. Evolution does not contradict Christianity imo.

1.) Absolutely Not

2.) Temperature fluctuations have been and always will be a naturally occurring phenomena. The Global Warming scare is a way for the government to profit and gain power through fear-mongering.

3.) Ted Cruz is the obvious, clear conservative among the remaining three. He is the only one that has a proven conservative, constitutional record, unlike Trump and Kasich.

4.) Yes you can. I believe there is a difference between a Liberal and Leftist. A Liberal, despite my disagreeing with them, will still acknowledge reason and listen to dissenting arguments - knowing that it is one of the many benefits of the Constitution that allows us to debate one another and have different points of view. A leftist on the other hand, I truly believe, is not a patriot by any stretch of the imagination. They suppress and silence intellectual discussion and debate and force their views upon the individual through intimidation and threats. Is there a grey area between Leftist and Liberal in today's Society? Absolutely - but just because someone is Liberal does not equate them to being unpatriotic. This is something that should be determined on an individual basis, and not a generalized one.

5.) A. - A baby is an individual human being, not just a body part of the mother.

6.) A - the whole purpose of the right to bear arms is that the power remains with the people and not the government.

7.) In Order: A- Build a Wall, B - Deport known illegals, and F - Fine employers of illegals to remove the incentive.

8.) This is known as the 'Commerce Clause'

9.) Socialist

10.) No they do not, the individual, along with the free market allows businesses to grow, and those businesses create jobs. The Government creates 'jobs' that are inefficient, cumbersome and expensive. If all government jobs were replaced by privatized businesses, every job that the government 'created' would be eradicated.

11.) God

12.) I do not believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns. Police do serve a purpose - to keep people safe. There are some rotten eggs, but the vast, vast majority of Cops do not abuse their power. I also believe that relying solely on cops is not always the best. Citizens should be able to protect themselves as well, and waiting for the Cops to arrive is not always the best answer when time itself is vital to survival.

13.) Yes . Absolutely. Israel is the only Westernized, free-standing Nation in the middle east. Our alliance with Israel is one of the, if not the most important alliance we have.

14.) Yes. I'm completely okay with the theory of evolution being taught - I am NOT however, okay with evolution being taught as a Leftist tactic to attempt to disprove Christianity to kids.

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory? Yes or no.

I don't know what you mean by southern strategy anymore, it has been diluted and is largely used in a derogatory manner by dems (i.e. the republicans went racist), as someone from the south, I love the people and culture down here and love that we play a big role in dictating policy for one of the 2 major parties.

  1. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

People are demanding governmental action even though whats going on still isnt fully understood, in the 70s global cooling was the scare, in the 00s global warming was the scare, now its just called climate change because its not warming wholesale. The earth has been going through climate fluctuations throughout history and even if we need to cut down on man made pollution, taxing and strangling businesses is not the answer.

  1. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

Cruz is a conservative and I honestly think trump is too, I voted for rubio but trump may be inexperienced but is well intentioned and I would not mind him being president, I really support trump more and more as the media attacks him with lies. 4. 4. Liberals definitely can be patriots. There are some who hate America and want to blame America for everything.

What kind of question is this. I don't believe this so I am not answering

  1. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes!!!!

  2. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes alongside other theories and beliefs. Not exclusively.

[–]padronr 0ポイント1ポイント  (2子コメント)

  1. I do not believe the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory because I don't think there is anything about conservatism that should appeal to one a group of people based on geography. The fact that politicians think they can use this strategy to gain the southern votes is just part of why I hate politics. The principles of conservatism should be taught to all voters on the basis of reason and logic, without candidates saying they'll focus on getting the southern states and saying New York or California are lost causes. Those are the places that need conservatism the most, and the game they play to gain votes is not valid in my opinion.

  2. I agree that the Earth goes through cyclical fluctuations in global temperature and that our current time period is no different from any other in that regard. I admit to not understanding the science enough to discern the validity of the reports coming from both sides of the argument. I believe that the presence of the human race can have an effect on the Earth's environment after many years of unregulated pollution. What I don't believe is the doomsday preaching of the left in that the earth WILL die in ten years if we don't get rid of coal and oil. Bullshit. I believe people should be held accountable to practice responsible use of resources if not only for the sake of the planet, but the survival of our race. That being said, the EPA is not the way to do that but alas I can offer no solution myself.

  3. Cruz is the only true conservative

  10. Technically yes through government employment and federal programs, but is it their direct function or responsibility? No, that is the purpose of a free market.

  11. God

  12. I don't believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns, and I think a small percentage of police officers abuse their power but the left perverts it these days.

  13. I'll say yes but confess to not knowing anything about Israeli foreign relations and why its a benefit or detriment. I just know they're preferable to those Iranian fuckers.

  14. Yes, but as a theory, while respecting the different (not just Christian) theologies that students may hold.

[–]padronr 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

Alright, I'd like to comment on your questionnaire here- feel free to delete this if you're going to reject me anyway but I think it deserves from feedback.

First of all, I'd describe myself as a fairly moderate social conservative but a strict fiscal conservative. I think the gays can get married and all that, who cares, the government simply has no role in what has traditionally been a religious pairing. And a lot of these questions are pretty socially oriented, which I understand because you can't expect all the current subscribers to have a firm grasp of economic principles to reinforce conservatism. But everyone has an opinion on these items so I see why you went this way. Still, I think there needs to be some room for people such as myself to justify their positions, and admit to the fact that they're moderate in some areas but enjoy visiting this sub to participate in healthy, respectful debate. Talking to a bunch of people who hold your same views is great and all but different opinions should be welcomed, if only for the chance to convert borderline sympathizers to full-on conservatives. So please take this into consideration when you're picking people for your private club.

In regards to question 4- classical liberalism is deeply rooted in patriotism, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But I think it has been perverted in today's society into what Shapiro and many others rightfully call "the left". THOSE are the unpatriotic festering wound of politics, and their ties to classical liberalism are weak at best.

For question 5- I think abortion should be illegal not on the premise of the rights of an unborn child but rather on the responsibility of the parents. I think if you choose to engage in consensual sex you should be held accountable for your actions- no get out of jail free card if you don't want to use a condom. I think abortion should be allowed in some cases of rape and when the mother's life is in danger. These are not hardline conservative views but I fit more in the pro-life crowd than the alternative.

And on immigration, I think the reform we need has to come from a place of making it simpler to get into our country legally if you show that you will work or go to school or in some way contribute. I think all immigrants should go through a trial period where their employment is monitored, and if they are unemployed for x amount of months while in this "legal status" they are deported. Once they show they can work, they can apply for citizenship and bring whatever family with them that cannot work but are able to be supported by those who can.

And some of these questions are just blatantly loaded- I mean, yes our motto is "In God We Trust" but why is that important other than to understand the founding of our country? Atheists can make great conservatives who recognize that founding but choose to not believe it.

And evolution- I think it should be taught because lots of science is based on that theory and an understanding of it is important for students looking for a career in that area. But that doesn't mean that it should be taught as law, and dissenters publicly ridiculed by their leftist teachers. But it has its place.

I don't know, I've become more and more uncomfortable with this questionnaire and private community deal. I also just happened to look at the date- is this some fucking April Fools joke??

  1. Do you consider the "Southern Strategy" to be a valid theory?

No, parties realign all the time in American history and there was a lot more going on during the 60s and 70s than just Nixon's election strategy.

  1. Please respond to this statement: "There have been many ice ages during Earth's history before humans how do you explain temperature fluctuations today?"

I don't know enough geology to make an informed answer but my understanding is that climate has been changing for all of Earth's history.

  1. Which of the three remaining Republican candidates for president do you consider to be a True Conservative?

I don't think Trump is really conservative. Kasich used to be but he's hurting the party for his own ego which I find repulsive. Cruz seems to be steadfast in his support of the constitution so he has my vote but I lean libertarian and was a Rand Paul supporter.

  1. Can you be a Liberal and also be patriotic? Yes or no.

Possibly, but it is not common among liberals.

  1. Which of the following is closest to your position on abortion?

A. Unborn babies have rights just like any other human. -A

  1. What do you think the phrase "the right to bear arms" means?

A. A Constitutional right put in place by the founders to avoid a tyrannical government

A - I believe the intent of the Founders was to have armed citizen controlled militias ready to defend the United States from enemies both foreign and domestic, including government tyranny.

  1. Which of the following is closest to your position on illegal immigration?

A. Build a wall.

B. Deport them all.

F. Fine employers of illegals to take away the incentive.

Combination of these three. I don't think there is a single silver bullet solution to a problem this massive that has been festering this long.

  1. What is this section of the Constitution commonly called? Article I, Section 8, Clause 3: [The Congress shall have Power] To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

Socialist

  1. Does the government create jobs? Yes or no.

Yes, but it is not a net gain (they have to steal/take from one part of the economy to "create" jobs).

  1. What's the missing word? "In _____ we trust."

G-d

  1. If you believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and you think police abuse their powers should police be armed?

I don't believe it is wrong for citizens to own guns and I believe police need to be armed in order to do their jobs and protect the communities they serve.

  1. A strong alliance with Israel is vital to United States security interests. Yes or no.

Yes, they are our only true ally in the region.

  1. I believe the theory of evolution should be taught in public schools. Yes or no.

Yes, as well as any science that contradicts evolution.

I'm a long-time lurker and I created this account specifically to remain a part of this community. This is the best place on reddit as far as American politics and current events. Thank you for considering my application.
