[–]DJ-Foran 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's no coincidence that both Hayter and Meer's delivery leads to all these quotable lines. Hayter has "A Hind D?" while Meer has "I should go." I find that an actor who can make their work memorable is worth much more than someone who can just sound emotional.

I find this part incredibly disrespectful to actors who spend hours preparing for their roles and try their best to deliver a believable performance that suits the role you undervalue so much in favor of something as lucky as a "memorable performance". You like attaching to yourself to the person, rather than their acting/role, which is fine but that's exactly what created the issue with Hayter in the first place.

that's a lot of young people who'd be more than willing to work in such conditions

There's also that problem with Americans/Westerners having that unchecked ethnocentrism as well. Being non-american, it's hard having discussions across cultures when American-redditors on here truly believe their way is the only correct way and to hell with everything else.

In the case of China, those working conditions are a part of their life and they truly believe in their own pursuits for what is considered 'happiness' in that part of the world. If you check the education system in Japan and Korea, Americans would think that we're crazily indoctrinated by our work culture. I can see the reasoning behind that but loathe the idea westerners(more like Americans) believe their system of education is the morally superior one and we should all fall to their good graces. I'm all for tolerating other viewpoints but westerners man...You guys make it hard to tolerate your viewpoints when you're so intolerant of ours.

In the case of China, it's just a way of life. It's not perfect, but it's not deplorable or demeaning the way your post makes it sound. It "just is".

Android 内の el3ctronics によるリンク Why is there not a single American company that creates Android devices?

[–]DJ-Foran 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

The only company I know right now that is US-centric is Saygus; based in Utah. They're the one that's pushing for their Saygus V2 phone? The problem with Saygus is that their V2 was due last year(to this day), but was held up due to manufacturing issues. Something Apple doesn't deal with because their influence and investment in Foxconn guarantees their product makes it to market on time.

There's a logical-business reason why you're seeing most of the manufacturing done in China that isn't just tabloid news like "cheaper labor" and so on. But that kind of discussion doesn't belong on /r/Android: all the more as many Californian tech companies opt for Chinese manufacturing. If you want to really understand why you see there is a lack of US companies, just follow the manufacturing process of phones and do some off-time research into how the smartphone business keeps out the small players. It's an interesting journey for sure.

Oh, and a bit of history-buffing regarding the Nexus Q and the Moto X specifically. I can answer some questions as this is actually my professional line of work to get you going on your journey.

[–]DJ-Foran 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

The article is making a big assumption based on IDC numbers only with no actual events for extrapolating hard data. Instead, sitting on his soapbox, the writer preaches based on circumstantial evidence that aren't entirely related to each other. Why would AT&T and Verizon care what Samsung will/won't do as long as there's financial stability in the decision; which is why carrier bloatware exists in order to substantiate that revenue. An opinion IS an opinion, and his sucks. It has no financial grounding or any basis that could even be feasible other than "hurr durr, Samsung's powerful therefore...". If you want financial change, speak financial-sense. The article has none of it. If it weren't for the fact it was published on Androidcentral: this would've been classified as blog-spam by /r/Android's rules.

This is a case where you are free to pick the app that best does what you're looking for. I felt the same way, here in Akihabara which is where I learned that paying for TomTom GPS is worth every coin spent when you travel as much as I do and can't afford to be turned around.

I'm talking out my ass now, but I think Google Maps is able to push out features based on aggregate data and UI interaction which could cut down programming hours needed to push out tweaks, making it cheaper to deploy improvements, while keeping the app free.

If the OP wants more concise navigation, then you need someone to go in there and program the logic carefully to deliver that precision. It may take Google Maps team a while to push that out since it depends on data collection to do that, but if you paid someone to actively go in there and do it: it should be clear which one saves you time. At that point, just pay for a premium solution and get it over with.

I'm referring to the zero tolerance when I see American redditors react negatively to seeing anyone with a gun out in public, regardless of intent. I thought it had much to do with the anti-cop culture on reddit since police typically open carry, but this is just a regular person I gleaned from your initial comment since you didn't really imply whether this person at the gas station was being disorderly that would give reason to believe he would be harmful. I'm sure there's more to your story, but I've observed multiple american redditors have that same reaction to firearms which finally prompted me to at least ask about it.

I see that and imagine a situation where being blinded costing you an arm/leg. This picture makes functional sense and in the spirit of the subreddit. Hair doesn't have to be short, but having braided-styles for women is exactly why they exist to keep hair organized, but retains the length.

I don't live in the US so I don't know the logic here. I read that your education system is commonly heavily-criticized for its zero tolerance policies. But on the other hand with guns: it's okay to have zero tolerance regarding whether it's loaded or not? It sounds like to the link between the two involves people(at least in the US) being very distrustful of anything and anyone. Which I think is a bad way to live. Can't you trust that guy who open-carries not to kill you? I read that it takes a lot of legal stuff to be able to open-carry anyways so there's that level of protection.

That's close to what the Xperia compact phones have but there's a compromise because of the form factor which is having your screen vibrate during audio playback because of the bass. The overall volume suffers for it and one of the few things I regret about my Z3C purchase(as you should know already).

Being how audio technology is taking off, I'd rather have a single front-firing speaker like the 2014 Moto X if I can get the same warm signature with punchy bass from it, all while reaching higher volumes than most dual-stereo offerings.

I'm not expecting the Nexus 6P to fix what is inherently a design choice. Either the app starts slower to give time for the images to cache into memory. Or we can have the UI load ASAP and let the images load as they're needed which is better for data conservation, but bad for UI performance (as we know already). The other option is that Google scales back on the amount of content to show when the app launches so that we kill the images needed to load and shortens the CPU load to process the UI elements all at once. Apple does that, but I like the seamless scrolling that Material Design brings so it's a catch-22. I'd like to get my hands on a SD820 capable device so I can see for myself how that brute-force Single-core performance along with memory enhancements can affect the UI experience.

If you want to see a choice in how design affects UI performance, load up Reddit is fun app and play around with image caching and card information displays. There's a drastic difference. My Galaxy S6 stutters unless I do something about it, which I know isn't just a simple hardware limitation but something deeper where a compromise has to be made to achieve UI stability. Right now, the easiest thing to do to mitigate issues is just to let the Play Store sit for a few seconds after the app launches into the main page so that it can finish loading up all the images. Remember that the image loading is also impacted by user internet capacities, which is again, a design choice UI developers make when deciding between waiting to cache images, or just loading all the elements as they come through the I/O queue.

I don't see a problem with a phone denting. A phone that can dent will absorb the impact and deform instead of shattering your screen. Depending on the kind of plastic though, I'd rather go with what Sony has in the Z3 compact design where their frame weren't a one-piece, but 8 pieces of polycarbonate where the corners were all free-moving parts to further reduce chances of screen's shattering.

This is typical of venture capitalists(i.e the $600 buy-ins) where you provide capital for their projects and have to wait upwards of nearly half a decade just to begin to see a return. It's just now that the average consumer is seeing what has been SOP for business for centuries.
