Glad to see its shaping up! Looks neat!

Same! This phone is actually looking very appealing.more competition in the marketplace is also usually a good thing for consumers.

So they showed it can take 4K video but never uploaded the video itself. And they also never showed the fingerprint unlocking the phone. The placement of the sensor seems pretty awkward.

There was a video taken in the assembly factory demonstrating the fingerprint recording and the unlocking function. It should be in the videos list on their twitter account.

I'm honestly glad about the sensor placement. I'm not planning on using it, so I'd literally leave it off to the side, but it's still accessible for those who do want to use it.

I'm a little worried that they're boasting resolution and competing in the megapixel race without actually showing any samples. Just because your camera is 21 megapixels, it doesn't mean that anything with the quality to live up to that number will come out of it.

I think this would make Saygus the first phonemaker to release with USB Type C.

Nah, that'd be LeTV over in China.

[–]Dimethyltrip_to_mars 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Nokia N1 tablet has USB-C

Since when did they have Type C?

I think a post a few days ago said the latest iteration has it.

They'd better have type C after all these delays..

I'm very interested in this phone.. but I impulse buy every phone Ive owned. So far in 2015 its cost me about 2k doing this. I would get this phone today if I could but they keep pushing the dates (which is fine if it produces a better end result) but Im not going to funnel hundreds of dollars into something unless I have a specific date, and if that date isn't met I get every dime back.

You've spend $2,000 on phones in 6 months? May I ask what's the lure of a phone that makes you want to impulse buy? And you could also sell back the phones to get some of the money back if you have 2-3 flagship phones just lying around.

Holy shif, /r/android can't be satisfied with ANYTHING new. Had LG/Samsung/Moto put this EXACT same phone out, they would be drooling.

Really? If LG/Samsung/Moto had released, oh sorry announced to be released by Q4 2015 my bad, a phone running a Qualcomm 801 processor people would eat them alive

Lol haven't people been getting upset that companies aren't using the 801/805?

805 yes, 801 no... The 801 was a great processor don't get me wrong but the 805 is superior in every way.

The 801 was a slight bump up from the 800 which started shipping in the LG G2 IIRC and Note 3.

They're taking too long to release this. Also, I don't know if I order from them now the unit they're going to send me will work on Sprint which is CDMA.

why did they make the phone so ugly

[–]TomMadoGalaxy Note 3 N9005 11

I am neither from Saygus nor related to any way to phone manufacturing, other than being a consumer just like you, but think - how to fit these already small components with connectors in a very compact chassis, make sure it works, and have the whole thing looks great? It is very hard and requires a lot of back and forth between the engineering team and the design team, and these massive effort seems to be worth it only for flagships, and would be difficult for a small team like Saygus.

Should you still expect them to make it look good, considering the time and price? Yes. But I can understand why they don't, even if I don't agree.

I might be the only person that thinks it looks cool. Kind of like a rugged ass prototype of some military sat phone.

i digg it.

I do too.

yea me too

The front isn't the most appealing phone but the rest of it looks nice.

[–]Dimethyltrip_to_mars 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

so you wouldn't touch it.

At first I was interested. Then I was like, "I'm not paying $500+ for an ugly brick"

I still do not see anything they are doing that interests me. Maybe a year+ ago it was interesting, but now it just looks like a rehash of what other OEMs have been doing for a while now.

Yeah it combines a lot of different things, but sometimes doing a lot half assed is worse then honing down on a few great things.

What makes you think what they're doing is half assed?

I didn't say they were I just said that doing a few things great is better then doing a lot half assed.

If time has shown us anything its that no OEM can deliver on these promises of a "dream phone" regardless of how well intentioned it is.

Also going based on their repeated Indigogo campaign and missing multiple deadlines while being shady doesn't lend any credibility to their claims.

You very heavily implied that because they're doing so much, they must be half-assing it

Also, what OEM makes a phone for the US market with two sim cards and two SD slots?

Yes I did imply heavily they would. Do we have any reason to suspect otherwise?

They are no different/better so far then any other shoot for the stars campaign funded empty promise. They have promised and failed to deliver this far (shipping dates) and then they start another (no delivery required) money grab through Indigogo that was shadily funded so as to look like it was more popular then it was.

Also, know why it is called the V2?

Back in the days, the Vphone V1 was already quite the hot item. It was one of the few smartphones in the market that offered a slideout QWERTY keyboard. But more than that, it boasted of two-way video calling at a time when such a thing was still unheard of. But delays became the death of the V1 and its specs eventually became outdated and the phone vanished into obscurity.

That's from a Slashgear article, yeah this is the second shoot got the stars phone they have promised and shown demos and then failed to deliver... Only last time they didn't have crowdsourcing to take the money ahead of time for.

The only reason for my comment was that it sounded like you were trying to backtrack on what you'd said

what other oems doing for a while? like samsung who removed sd's?

LG has removable batteries and SD cards. Sony has water proofing many OEMs are shipping dual SIM devices.

Yes the Sagyus does multiples of those things but again, is there any proof it does them well? It's already been shown that the dual SD and "boot from SD" is a security issue (Android Central) and Androids native SD card functionality is broken at best.

Everyone is riding the Saygus train and I really don't get why

well one of the problem no one put all in one phone.

IF they finally ship and deliver the product as advertised, it has everthing packed in one with the right size (for me). today it is for me doing a compromise by choosing the phone with the least deficits.

But yes, first they have to show they can deliver...and till then I will look from far and won't preorder^
