I can certainly understand why you guys think the shift in direction was a joke, given its proximity to April Fools' Day. As you guys have pointed out, though, we decided to implement the change before the date in question, in the hopes of offsetting any accusations of it being a prank. Apparently that didn't work, but rest assured: The moderators of /r/TIFU remain devoted to keeping the subReddit great, and we've decided that GIFs of animals fucking up will be the new standard.

It was a long and difficult process, coming to that conclusion, and we're aware that there might be some bumps in the road. However, our research has shown that since the userbase consists mainly of adolescent males and millenial females - both of which are demographics shown to appreciate wildlife and humor in equal parts - the adjustment seemed like the right way to go.

Thanks to all of you guys for voicing your concerns, though, and for remaining a loyal user of /r/TIFU!

Personally, I'm more likely to stop dropping by. I enjoyed the tales from humans about the ups and downs in their lives. Sure, there was a lot of chaf, but there were some gems as well. If I wanted to see gifs of animals, I'd look for a different subreddit.

I don't know if nearly six million people would subscribe to this sub if human fuck ups were 'boring'. I don't think this sub is going to necessarily die or anything, but I think this is a very bad decision just like the rest of the community's majority.

This is seriously dumb though, if you wanted to make such a dramatic shift you should have made a new subreddit. You're stupid, this decision is stupid, all of the mods are stupid for allowing this to happen.

You should really enable links to tags in your RES preferences. Then you could click the link and remember why you think /u/notanestleshill is a cunt. For example, I'm now gonna tag you as 'Likes to whine' and it will link back here if I ever see you somewhere else.
