If I put up a monument to a serial rapist in my town would you defend it by saying "well a monument to a serial murderer would have been worse"?

Also slavery was around for hundreds of years. The 3rd Reich was only around for 20 years.

It's public property, it belongs to everyone, except everyone didn't get a say on whether this was built because black people were still 2nd class citizens when it was constructed and there has not been a public vote on whether it should stay up since.

If you want to put this slavery glorifying bullshit on public land you at least need the public to vote on it. Somehow I doubt you'll be campaigning for that.
