Kidding. Sort of. That's not my rig, but it looks eerily similar. Until my aux cooling fans arrive, i have a desk fan keeping fresh air moving over the GPUs.

Not really a true mining rig but it squeezes 31.5 MH/s out of the one 290x. Contemplating making another more appropriate rig out of old parts, zip ties, and whatever GPU's are currently on craigslist.

That looks impressive!

I bought 290x a week ago an as a newbie, I can't get it to mine at all! How do you get such a great result? What pool? What is your software setup? I try to use windows 10 with ethminer to no success :(

Thanks man! I ran into a handful of problems getting set up, first thing I had to do was add --opencl-platform 1 to my command line. The AMD 16.3 drivers seem to cause problems for a lot of people.

I use qtminer on ethermine.org. pretty heavily overclocked, seems that mining stays stable at a significantly higher clock than any 3d applications. Tweaking my global and local work settings also helped my hashrate a bit.

  1. Do I I have to install geth?

  2. How does your .bat file looks like?

  3. Are you on windows 10?

  4. How do you overclock (MSI Afterburner)?

Sure thing, I wouldn't be mining if it wasn't for the help I got on this sub.

  1. If you're mining with a pool you only need geth if you want to maintain your own secure wallet. Alternatively you could use a service like jaxx wallet or mine directly to an exchange wallet.

  2. qtminer.exe -s us1.ethermine.org:4444 -u 0xB6273331C737B220F7aCA9BC401071D0d3e*****.MainRig -G --opencl-platform 1 --cl-global-work 16384 --cl-local-work 256

  3. Nope, using 8.1. My buddy is running windows 10 with an r9 290x/Crimson 16.1 without any problems though

  4. I use MSI afterburner, buddy uses asus gpu tweak with a modified bios and can get a much higher OC than I can

  5. For whatever reason the "--cl-global-work 16384 --cl-local-work 256" of my .bat file raises my hashrate, saw it on the ethereum mining forums.
