I found a 2 dollar bill on the ground last week and bought 2 chaco tacos with it

Now, if you had a dollar for every claimed gender used by liberals...you just may compete with the Don.

Some say that there are still genders, out there....just waiting to be discovered.

It was but me and firetruck found a scorpion nest and I'm boiling them in a pot now so it's better

Boiling invertebrates in a pot always helps me feel better. Except for me, it's usually crawfish...not scorpions.

There's alot of scorpions here and fireflies. I catch fireflies and keep them in jars too!

In the Carolinas there's apparently a firefly epidemic where there's only like a fraction of them showing up anymore. As a kid they used to be everywhere, now I can't remember the last time I saw one.

I was reading not too long ago about how artificial lights at night have decimated most firefly populations.

Probably doesn't help that pretty much every kid likes putting them in jars lol.

It's amazing how we are the bad guys for suggesting this. It is true that there are some genetic and chromosome disorders out there, but that is so rare that it not a good argument to use.

(Maybe this is too liberal for here but I wanna be fair because I think it's an interesting subject)

To be honest, I think there's a middle ground and both sides of this argument don't understand each other. The thing is that there are many people who believe gender is a social construct and are not referring to biological sex. Which, it kind of is - we base who we call he or she not on their actual genitals, but what they wear, how they act, etc. So just saying there are genetic and chromosome disorders doesn't really address it.

But the other (liberal/"progressive) side kind of makes no sense because they are against gender roles, yet they support transitioning/transgenderism 100% when transgender people are really playing into the gender roles (MtF grow out their hair, get implants, wear "girly" stuff, etc). And support little kids being made to transition, which is disturbing as fuck and child abuse. And if you don't automatically think they're wonderful for being like 5 different genders at the same time or if you suggest they may want to make sure they're mentally sound before transitioning or doing anything like that, you're satan.

In my personal opinion, I don't believe gender roles should be enforced or you should be shamed for going against them, so I don't identify as a woman in any way that is separate from being a female. I am female because I'm female. I'm a woman because I'm female and that's the word people typically use to mean female. Whether I want to look butch as fuck or like a sparkly pink princess, I'm still female. It's not an opinion, that's fact. But I'll respect people who want to be called something other than their biological sex (as long as it isn't ridiculously complicated and hard to remember) because I don't see a reason to disrespect someone who hasn't hurt me. I don't think people against it are necessarily bad at all, but if you're trying to shame people for not fitting stereotypes, you should expect they're going to have issues when they don't naturally fit those (not saying you are, just have seen it around a lot).

It's more complicated than just telling someone they're wrong/messed up and making fun of them.

All of the made up genders are just either attention seeking schemes or real feelings that the person who made them up doesn't know how to convey or doesn't want to convey for, once again, attention seeking reasons. Nobody knows what "male" or "female" is really like since i can't get into someone elses brain and compare them with my perception of that concept. You can name your gender as yourname+gender defining particle and you would be right to call it that because it's you the only person that truly knows if it is what you say it is. Society doesn't need to "recognize" any other genders since the overwhelming majority of it already identifies with the only two that we've since we named them. All the others are not divergent or tangential enough to be completely separated from the two we already have, hence why people just dismiss the new gender claims as nothing more than foolishness. Sexes are a different matter.

I don't think "society" needs to recognize any gender at all, only sex, which is what I was pretty much trying to say. Beyond that, I think you should be able to consider yourself whatever you want, but don't act like you're being oppressed or everyone else is an intolerant person for being confused as fuck about it.

Agree with everything you said

Curious, what're your thoughts on the whole North Carolina gendered bathrooms debacle?

If you haven't heard, in short, they made it to where you had to use the restroom with whatever is on your birth certificate M/F

I think it's pointless, because it's a bathroom. Also, if someone is trans and passes, you're not going to know their genitals anyway. Unless they want to check everyone who walks into a bathroom? Lol. I have no problem with trans and passing people/people who have actually had a sex change using the same bathrooms or locker rooms or anything. If you've had a sex change, you're probably not just a guy pretending to be trans in order to prey on girls or vice versa.

From a biological point of view, sex isn't XY vs XX, its more of "having a Y" vs "not having a Y" so there is really only 2 sexes in humans.

[–]Blue_Rondo_a_la_DirkNJ 1ポイント2ポイント  (2子コメント)

I can understand wanting to switch genders. That's anybody's prerogative, doesn't concern me. If they're unhappy about transitioning, that also doesn't concern me, they can make their own choices, and deal with whatever "consequences" (has a negative connotation) that follow.

But how can anybody disagree with 2 genders? I really don't get that one. If somebody is MtF, call them a woman. And viceversa. I don't see how trans could be a gender. And identifying as something non-human, well that's gotta be a mental disorder. I think most folks identify as animals do it for attention though, there are probably very few people, if any in the world, who actually are wolf-kin. Related to that though - don't wolves have genders anyways?

They have sexes, since the concept of gender is already implying roles and "civilized" society, and since almost all animals act on instinct, genders is not the most fitting of tags.

I don't really understand it, but you don't have to understand it to tolerate it. If there's some reasonable step that ought to be taken to be inclusive of someone's life decisions that doesn't step on my freedom, then sure why not? I'd just hope that we could deal with the situation using common sense instead of a complicated system of laws.

You forgot I sexually identify as an attack helicopter.

I recognize trans persons, they're undeniably real but what's up with this "I'm a dragon" nonsense?

I have conservative views on gender assignment surgery, but I think the topic needs to be studied greatly further.

Most transpersons are unhappy even after surgery. The first hospital in the UK to offer gender reassignment actually SHUT DOWN because they didn't feel it helped people. There are plenty of mental disorders like body dysmorphia where people want to cut off their hand, leg, scratch their eyes out.. etc... or they feel they'll never be happy.
