The US has a scarily large list of politicians assaulted/killed with guns. From the Continental Congress all the way to last year when a state senator died in a mass shooting.

I guess not having so many guns goes a long way to making security less of an issue in Australia. But I'm surprised to read that you had a prime minister literally disappear in the 60's without a trace. Maybe some tighter security is warranted.

Yeah, the US also has a large list of countries and people it has pissed off. I mean you can meet the PM of Norway in the supermarket, and the Dutch ones even cycle to work, but that's probably also because they don't piss off that many people.

When your military is bigger than most of the rest combined and you provide stability and staggering economic benefit to (literally) billions of people then yeah- I suppose the US does have a larger profile and pisses off more people than the dutch.

There is also the whole "invading countries for no reason whatsoever and killing lots of civilians" thing. I think that's more likely to be the reason.

The cost of peace is eternal war. Or something like that.

Then why arm people like Saddam in the 80's-90's in the first place?

Why give billions upon billions to the Saudis, the well-spring of Salafist terrorist islam?

Then wh...

Oh. I get it.

We have always been at war with Oceania.

So you think America is evil, and we invade countries and kill civilians for pleasure?

How lovely Reddit is that I get to discuss with individuals as well-informed and intelligent as you. Keep up the great work.

Tell me why you invaded Iraq? You did it to please your president. He had no reason to do it other that to get one over his daddy - he certainly had no reason based on international law. I'm well informed and intelligent; you apparently aren't. Or you might be, but you have a massive blind spot when it comes to the way that America uses its military might. But that's because you have never been on the other end. If you have the slightest ability to think empathetically, which I doubt, put yourself in the shoes of a civilian in a country attacked by the US, and also ask yourself what it would mean as a civilian in light of the fact that the US is one of a very small number of countries that has not ratified the Protocols Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 1977.

Yes, president George W. Bush invaded Iraq to outdo George HW. You pointed this obvious truth out because you are so well informed and intelligent. Truly impressive.
