I remember the time when he was really likable, around the time he fought Rua. He seemed like a good, respectful kid with ton of talent. Then something happened and he stopped being that. Or maybe he was always an asshole and he was able to hide it better, who knows.

Yeah. No one knew the real him. Jon jones problems started the second he sat infront of the ufc cameras and pronounced 'i'm a good guy, i grassed on kids at school. You will not find me with dwi or police charges or drug raps'. Since then his facade has crumbled.

Why do we have to go beyond Jones the athlete? The only part of Jones' life that interests me is his fighting ability; why do I need to dive into his personal life to see if I will root for him or not?

Has he done fucked up shit? Of course he has.

Does he have to pay the price for the shit he has done? Of course he has, and the courts should decide that.

The guy doesn't even seem to work that hard compared to other top athletes. He's an amazing fighter, one of the best ever, and definitely the best LHW ever. But he has a lot of talent that he didn't earn. He won the genetic lottery (except maybe not mentally...).

And having favorable genetics isn't really respectable. He's just a lucky scumbag.

I don't know what it's like in other countries, but in Ireland, if something clearly annoys someone, you rag on them even more. There was a huge crowd of casual Irish MMA fans who probably didn't know a lot of the fighters at that conference.

So what happened was they said "oh yea i've heard of Jon Jones, let me boo the other guy". This happened with all of the fighters, but when they saw it annoyed DC more than any other fighter on that stage, they ragged on him even more. Not because they dislike him, but because they wanted to bust his balls.
