Transfer Agreement Memphis Depay (self.reddevils)

Football Leaks leaked the Transfer Agreement between PSV and Manchester United for Memphis Depay and can be found here

€34,000,000 in three installments:

  • €17,000,000 in the first 48 hours after registration

  • €8,500,000 on the 31st of January

  • €8,500,000 on the 1st of July

Other clauses:

  • €1,350,000 if we win the Premier League

  • €325,000 if we reach the Semi-Final of the CL

  • €650,000 if we reach the Final of the CL

  • €1,350,000 if we win the CL

  • Maximum sum payed because of clauses is €4,000,000

  • A maximum of €5,000,000 of next transfer or 10%

This contract also shows that Memphis has a 4 year contract with an option to extend it one more year

2019 but if we activate the option to extend his contract for one more year it'll be until 2020

This is correct for the competition bonuses for the Prem and Champions League.

There is no limit stated for the sell-on clause though.

    5 million of next transfer should only be if we sell at profit right. Otherwise its a really bad clause for us.

    No, the way i see it is, if we sold him for 20 million we would give psv 10% of that, which is 2 million, so not just give them 5 million, that is just the maximum they can get.

    In other words, we have to sell Memphis for 50 million + for PSV to get 5mil.

    Thats still a pretty bad clause for United given that Memphis has clearly said that he wants to play in Spain. Depending on the sell on fee, its a 2-5m hidden cost for United. In effect we've paid 37m Euro for him.

    Early on when he'd just signed or maybe even before that he'd made statements that his dream is to play in Spain like Ronaldo.

    His mother said it, think it was in the Guardian around the time that he signed. She said something like it was his dream to play for a club in Spain.

    The interview was also a year before anything about the transfer was known (Depay would have been 19/20 at the time) and the interview was given to Hart van Nederland which is more sensation/gossip news than actual news. So the question might well have been where did Memphis dream of playing as a kid or somethin and they twisted it. Just a possiblity, but I usually take stuff that comes from SBS6 (on which hart van nederland is broadcasted) with several grains of salt

    2-5 million euros is absolutely nothing for us. Especially if we sell him for 50 million, I doubt we'd be disappointed about parting with an extra 5 million.
