i'm prepared for the downvotes but i do wonder if all the people on here who complain about people being overly sensitive about this would feel the same way if there was a challenge on a different show where straight guys had to act 'gayer' meaning super stereotypically gay by being camp and feminine because that's what mainstream audiences find funny.

That's how people in here felt with Channing Tatum performing Beyoncé in drag. You hit the nail on the head, gurl. ;)

and when madonna did vogue. people even get upset when straight women go to drag shows! you can't on one hand say "this is gay culture, and it's annoying when straight people do this..." but then on the other hand say "omg black people you are so sensitive ffs! POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE WRONG!!!"

Frankly, while I can see how some black people would find RuCo's empire funny, many of those same people didn't bat an eye at the telenovela challenge when they were encouraged to act stereotypically Hispanic, and thought that was hilarious.

Edit: I'm Latino and I loved that challenge, and I didn't gave a problem with thorgy/laila's "appropriation" in the cha cha mini challenge, but still. Don't laugh at stereotypes that target me but then act like stereotypes that target you are totally unfair and inappropriate.

i personally don't find it offensive, but i'm white and i'm not going to dictate what people can and can't get offended over or find a problem with, especially not with poc when it comes to race issues.

I meant I lived the telenovela challenge. I wasn't giving my opinion on last week's episode, just pointing out the hypocrisy in SOME people who are totally okay with offensive stereotypes as long as they aren't the ones being targeted.

you being latino negates your point about how black people see something. Not offended by this episode just that claim.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

Legitimately don't care about straight guys "acting gayer" for laughs. That's been happening in mainstream media for years. People are overly sensitive.

[–]caulyBob the Drag Queen

okay, but that's you. you can't expect everyone to be like you.

[–]OvernightSirenAcid Betty 0

It should be about intent and context. It's called maturity.

but sometimes intent doesn't matter, if something offends someone then it really doesn't matter what the intent of the of the other person was. but i am more inclined to agree with you.

But you can?

[–]caulyBob the Drag Queen

when have i said that everyone should be offended by this? i think everyone should just let everyone else live how they want, be offended by what they want etc.

Well thats my bad then. I took it a diffrent way.I agree with you.

Sure. Why not. You have to make TV interesting so overacting is needed.

[–]caulyBob the Drag Queen

and gay/black characters are only interesting when they are over the top and stereotypical?

[–]CandyLanderKim Chi 4

Girl this is drag. You have to expect overacted comedy from these challenges and not a slowly constructed, atmospheric and envolving drama.

Drag will be over the top much like improv comedy.

Of course not but you can't argue that over the top acting doesn't attract your attention more, for right or wrong reasons. That's (reality) TV henny.

come through with this word! Thank you for getting it.
