Whats with all the fucking disrespect about Tribe Called Quest and Phife being the only things discussed or being upvoted yesterday.

Because it's a huge annoying circlejerk, johan cruyff just died and r/soccer has like only 2 main big posts related to him right now, and he changed the whole dynamic of soccer twice in his lifetime. It's annoying to see a shit ton of songs posted like ok he died why the fuck post 500000 songs.

Yeah a circlejerk because people are mourning a legend in the craft. Youre the people im talking about. Its annoying to see his contributions to hip hop? Ok obviously people cared about it or it wouldnt be on the front page.

You can't really compare sports and music subreddits. With genres like this there is way more discussion about legends than I've ever seen on sports subreddits. Sports subs are way more focused on what's currently happening within the sport, on here we talk about old music and new music, which are frequently intertwined. Not to mention Tribe were relevant a lot more recently than Cruyff.

It's like, tons of people nowadays still get into this genre because of Tribe, but no one is getting into soccer because of Cruyff, you know what I mean? Tribe is far bigger of a deal for current rap fans than Cruyff is for current soccer fans.
