I know this isn't as "serious" as a mute or a ban, but it's definitely a case of an overzealous mod.
Like the title states, I wrote out a long, well-written and (I think) funny post about a TIFU moment. I made sure to follow all their rules, down to adding a TL;DR. My story was essentially about how I was trying to avoid an ex-girlfriend, and ended up breaking lots of glasses and spilling tons of water all over myself and the ground, which I then had to clean up by myself.
It seemed like my story was well-received, because within minutes I had 10 up votes and a small batch of comments. But before I could even respond to them, my post was removed. Reason? "Mundane or unoriginal content. Being embarrassed is not a fuck-up."
...what??? I never stated that it was! Obviously my fuck-up was destroying a slew of dishes and flooding the dining room. Sure, I mentioned that I was embarrassed from this incident, but never did I imply that my embarrassment was the fuck-up.
I responded to the mod, in another well-written and VERY polite post, explaining that my story was, indeed, about a fuck-up, and simply mentioning how I felt did not dictate the entire story. I asked if they could please reconsider my post. Of course, he immediately replied completely ignoring my message and simply repeated the reason for removal along with "It will stay down."
This is incredibly stupid, because he can essentially remove any post he simply doesn't like by using this logic. For example, there was a story of someone who fucked-up by giving a homeless person the wrong bag of goods. Afterwards, they felt really bad. This story made it to the front page. But, feeling bad is not a fuck-up, I presume. So if he was feeling particularly dastardly, he could use this excuse to remove that post as well.
Absolutely ridiculous. What the internet does to people...
